(hoping for serious discussion)

Why not wait until the end of the season? I know most LSU fans wanted him gone after last year. I just don't get how this will help LSU find their next HC any more than if they had waited until the end of the season.

Make it clear you're in the market. Throws your name in the ring for any coach looking for a new place.

We saw why with the shite show that was last November. Everyone knew Les would be fired at some point, no reason to delay the inevitable

Because by firing him now, there will be no repeat of last season. It will give the school time to make a competent hire, allowing them to forge in-roads to candidates that are top-tier.

It really had to be done now if it was going to be done. The season is a wash; all effort now needs to be vetting the right coaches and getting the best possible hire.

I will miss Les Miles. I genuinely liked him and thought he was one of the things that made the SEC so special. But as the saying goes, there are only coaches that have been fired or will be fired. Not even Bowden or Paterno could escape it.

The way they moved today makes me believe that things have been in the works for awhile and they have a pretty good idea of who the next coach will be. Might as well get it out of the now so there is no clusterfrick like last year.

It really made no difference. It was emotional decision.

I think they are just really embarrassed of losing to Auburn because they shouldn't and wouldn't have lost that game if they had had a coach who had better time management. (Among other things.) And honestly, they should not have lost in the way that they did.

Also, that was not the first time Miles let a game slip through his fingers like that.

Because they did it a year too late and so they kneejerked when they realized that.

The LSU program has a lot of advantages but the people running it are morons.

Getting in the market early is just an excuse with no backing. The same rationale didn't help USCe last year.

Yes, but South Carolina had months and ended up with Muschamp. I know SC and LSU are different situations. I just don't see how this ensures them of getting a big name any more than if they had waited.

Didn't want to give Les the chance to win out and save his job?

I think the money people were fed up. I was not in favor of moving him out during the season, although I was in favor of moving Coach Cameron out. You are an Auburn fan, so you know what happens when the money people get involved

So, basically what you're saying is Bama should've fired $aban in 2013?

I think I the new age, you have to fire earlier to get the best candidate locked down.

It is different because the salaries are so high, the revenue supports all sports and gives money to university. In 2016, the football hire can raise alumni giving greatly. It is a cash producing machine that delivers weekly free advertising to potential students.

Everybody loves winning. Winning makes money.

I would think that this won't help recruiting at all....unless LSU makes a permanent hire before the season is over.

Four games. LSU will be a lost commodity at the end of the season now.

True. They knew A&M could never beat Les, so they didn't want to end up with the same debacle as last year.
