This is Kirby's 8th season with Nick Saban. He has produced some of the best defenses over the years. He is also the highest paid assistant coordinator (which you just don't become the highest paid DC without justifying it to the Bama's AD). He has gotten tons of exposure from one of the best current coach in CFB. He is clearly ready to jump to the next level. If Florida was smart they would take him in a heartbeat. Don't have doubts about hiring a coordinator to HC... look at the success of Jimbo Fisher or Boob Stoops.

Because another career defensive coordinator with ties to Saban is exactly what UF needs right now.

I imagine with the state of their program their next HC is going to be offensive minded... just a hunch.

At least we've seen what he can do as a head coach.

They should snap up Dabo. He's already experienced at losing to FSU, UGA and USC...

Kevin Sumlin is offensive minded and look at him. I think more importantly they need someone who understands the game and knows the system. I think Kirby has gotten enough exposure by now.

Maybe UF and A&M can do a HC rotation. Muschamp builds up A&Ms defense for three years while Sumlin does the same for UF's O... then switch off every three years?

But he's never served as a head coach before, at any any level. Some guys can't handle the spotlight. He may or not be one, but who knows. Everybody thought the same thing about Muschamp, Chizik etc.

I think Florida is one of the few Freeze would even listen to, but I don't think he's going anywhere. Dantonio at MSU? Brian Kelly?

Kirby wanted UGA to pay him too much money to sabotage UF. Muschamp was cheaper last time.

Kerwin Bell.

Former Gator great, some HCing success at the high school and small college levels. Little to no pressure on Foley to do this - Gator fans would give Bell a pretty long leash to get things righted in Gainesville. Their fanbase is somewhat divided...or was, until last night.

A win-win for Foley.

UF tried that already...hot asst. Saban trained...This trip will be seasoned HC likely not currently in SEC.
