After losing so many to the NFL, I doubted us.

The players heard

“They lost 15 to the draft, they can’t be as good”

“Their best WR is now at Bama”

“They don’t have any RBs”

“Bennett can’t be relied on to win a game for you”

Then mid season they heard “UT coming to town #1 to whip your arse”

I could be totally misremembering, but I don't recall a single outlet picking them to win the national title. A few picked them to go 12-0, lose to us in Atlanta and make the playoff, but Alabama/Ohio State were almost universal picks to be the 2 best teams.

You are not wrong at all. And honestly, most UGA fans were fine with it. We were just happy to win it last year. Luckily, Kirby and the team were not.

Most people doubted Georgia would repeat.

Doubt = doubt.

Go back to school. You’re debating the extent of the doubt, not the existence of any doubt itself. You’re “doubting isn’t doubt!” is unpersuasive.

Eh, nobody thought they'd do this. They were clearly picked behind Alabama and Ohio State.

Yeah but thats not doubting someone. No one doubted UGA COULD do this, just didnt think they WOULD do this. How often has the preseason #1 won the title? Its like saying no one thought Bama 2020 could win the title because Clemson was picked #1

They pretty quickly jumped into the conversation and then to the front of the line within a few weeks, but the off-season was a whole lot of talk about them being talented but taking a small step back.

Sure, and that was reasonable. They did take a small step back on defense, and they almost didn’t get the chance to wreck TCU if an Ohio State DB doesn’t fall down.

What didn’t happen was any prediction below serious playoff contender. That’s not disrespect on any level.

Oh I don't think they were disrespected. But they were given enough doubt that they were reasonably able to turn it into something.

Reasonable, arguably true. I don’t think this UGA team is head and shoulders better than last years in any case

You guys were favored by what? 8.5? C’mon now…

Undefeated reigning national champion UGA stomped a mudhole in the #1 team in the country, Tennessee.

Think about that for a bit.
Then think about it longer.

This is the answer that you are searching. This is the disrespect that fueled the team during the season.

Are you suggesting that the Vegas sharks are louder than the AP and coaches polls?

Why the frick were they or OSU or Bama ever ranked over us to begin with? We started the year beating hell out of Oregon as defending NC

Media picks between UGA and Tennessee were about 50/50 by the way. ESPN. CBS. ON3.

They likely viewed Tennessee being number 1 as disrespect.

Not that it matters, but I watched what they did to Oregon in the first game and had a pretty good feeling that this is how the season would end. I never really saw another team as complete as UGA all season.

Thank You! This is my point. Boo fricking Hoo that you weren't the unanimous pick to win it all in August. That doesn't mean people doubted you. Everyone with a pulse knew the level at which UGA recruits and knew they were one of maybe 4 schools that had a legitimate chance at a NC in 2022.

By your reasoning, every national champion in the BCS/CFP era was "doubted" yet I don't remember many (if any) of them whining to every camera about it.

So people doubted they were the best. Thanks for highlighting that doubt.
