Upshaw and Hightower.

Maybe even Barron.

Maybe this was posted earlier but if he ran for the Tigers he could have set records that were untouchable. The dude is a stud. I love our group of RB's but TR is ridiculous.

The problem with picking the best player is that the process is highly subjective. That's why the Heisman has devolved into a popularity contest among voters.

Trent Richardson is a beast. It took ten defenders for Auburn to bring Richardson down on one of his runs last Saturday. Andrew Luck is an amazing QB, probably the next John Elway. Robert Griffin III provides the wow factor and is one of the most explosive and most dynamic players I have seen in recent years. As for Ball and the others, I haven't seen them play so I really can't offer an opinion. Besides, the Heisman will come down to those three up above. Case Keenum will probably take votes away from RGIII, Barkley will probably take votes away from Luck. Ball will probably take some RB votes away from Richardson. But, in the end, it comes down to those three.

Fiction. Every time you see that there are two or three Bama OL's pushing the stack. TR is very good but benefiting mightily from huge holes.

Just about 50% of his yards come after contact. And every RB who has ever won the Heisman can give much of the credit to the offensive line. It's not like they gained all of their yards with nothing but them and the defense in front of them. They had blockers too.

Because he is. That is all.

Bo (in 12 games): 1786 yds. @ 6.4 YPC, 17 TD
MI (in 14 games): 1658 yds. @ 6.1 YPC, 17 TD

So Bo had more yards on higher YPC, and had the same # of TD's, all in two less games

Yeah.. umm. You're incorrect in your assessments.

Bo Jackson 1985
282 plays from scrimmage for 1859 yards for 17 TD's and an average of 6.6 yds per play

Mark Ingram 2009
303 plays from scrimmage for 1992 yards for 20 TD's and an average of 6.5 yds per play

Bo actually had more rushes 278 to Ingrams 271, so in actuality, Ingram achieved just as many TD's in less carries.

I would take him over any player except for a couple of the elite QBs. I think he's the best RB.

Fine - let's do yards from scrimmage. However, we all know that it is a bullshite metric to use to compare to running backs from the wishbone era because it loops in receptions. Mark Ingram had 8x as many receptions as Bo, and averaged 8 yds less a reception. I don't say that to knock Mark or pump Bo, but to emphasize the different role passing had in that era's game.

In any case, this is Bo v. MI per game (you conveniently forgot in your post that MI had two more games than Bo):

Bo: 155 YFS/gm, 6.6 YPT, 1.417 TD/gm
MI: 142 YFS/gm, 6.5 YPT, 1.429 TB/gm

So even though we count receptions to give MI a leg up, and even though offenses as a whole are MUCH more prolific in 2009 than in 1985, Bo still averaged more yards from scrimmage per game, and had more yards per touch. Additionally, the difference in TD/gm is not large enough to be statistically significant (at 12 gms each they both have 17 TD's and at 14 gms a piece, both have 20 TD's). So Bo > MI in yds. Bo > MI in ypt. Bo = MI in TD. But MI > Bo???

Richardson is a beast. Even as an LSU fan I have no problem admitting that.

Give it up, brah. Stathunter is "never wrong". He'll swear up and down that Greg McElroy is also better than Peyton Manning. Yes, Peyton Manning. I can't wait to hear him say both Trent Richardson and Mark Ingram are better than Bo. Then, next year, Eddie Lacy will also magically be better than Bo. It's coming, just wait...

I'd have to go with the Honey Badger as the best player in the country...with Trent 2nd best.
