When no one else was even considering him as a head coach? He probably would have taken it for the same pay, a Bud Light and some car keys

To keep him from following Lane.

And for that, we thank them.

34th highest paid coach in the country. And it’s 6.8 million. He is also making less than Texas is paying Arch.

The rant is out of touch with modern coaching salaries it seems.

Still a frick ton cheaper than what Ole Miss was going to pay Kiffin. Plus nothing long term so we can fire him if it doesn't work out and a better coaching pool opens up in a few years.

that is probably lower half of the SEC. Coaches want to come to the SEC because the minimum wage is crazy.

Texas is paying Arch Manning more than $6.8 Mil per year?

I find that hard to believe.

It’s what Sam Pittman was making before being fired at Arky. I believe it may be like 1% more than Freeze at Auburn. Likely bottom of the SEC.

It was well publicized by Texas fans when they were recruiting him and keeping him on roster and now well publicized by everyone dunking on them for doing it after this year.

Think Jeff Lebby makes like $4.3mil or something.

Really the only comparable guy as far as situation goes.

And it increases to 7.2 his final year so averages at 7 million. You don’t know your own coach’s salary?

Honestly, I forgot Lebby. But he also didn’t have the same amount of experience that Pete does and with quality coaches. State is going to be cheaper on coaching salaries already, and I don’t believe a multi-year Saban disciple and known commodity within the program is going to have the same deal as what Lebby has produced. Coaching salaries have also wildly ballooned in 2 years, and I wish that wasn’t the case.

Look at Lane and what we were offering there. $11-$12 mil was reserved for multiple national title winners a few years ago. Now Lane has it after simply making the playoff. Cignetti was offered his deal for $11 mil before winning the conference title and for a one and done playoff appearance. It does seem like it’s the market.

And in the playoffs...with a good chance to win the first game...we are winning on a discount..

I don't know, just seems crazy that Golding is being paid more like Jon Sumrall or Alex Golesh than Will Stein or Jeff Lebby.

Silverfield has been a head coach for 6 years and is making less than Golding.

Ultimately doesn't matter because it isn't our money, just odd.

Athletic Directors are known to make great decisions with other folks money. I guess all we can say is that Keith got the funding folks on board and that counts for something.
