Southern colloquialism dialect. Same reason the English pronounce Greenwich, "Grin-itch."

Because that is how the family of Ralph "Shug" Jordan pronounced the name.

Why does Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus pronounces his last name Ann-Droos?

Why do people in England prounounce the name St. John as sin-jin?

Why is it in Louisiana the name Hebert is pronounced A-bear?

Lots of Southerners with the family name Jordan pronounce it "Jerden". The founder of Realtree Camo comes to mind....That's just how the man pronounced his own last name....

Thank you.

This is the same reason I refuse to pronounce "Favre" "Farve". It's fricking FAHV-ray.

Just because it's your name doesn't mean you get to choose how it's pronounced.

My name is spelled "L-U-K-E", but I pronounce it "HAM SAND-WITCH".

fricking retarded.
