I'm way too young to ever see him play but if you look at his stats, it's comical. He had 2,091 yards in his career whereas Barry Sanders had 2,628 in 11 games. I know it was a different era and everything but the guy was 5th in the Heisman voting... was he even the best in his own era?

Somebody fill me in.

Tebow being ranked in the 70s is even more comical.

No one can name 70 players that have been better. That is a load of shite.

That list was trash, you’re telling me there’s nobody who’s played in the past 30 years who belongs in the top 11? Gtfoh

Wasn’t Ernie Davis actually better than Brown at Syracuse right after him? Brown’s pro career had some sway in that vote I think

Looking at the top 10, and I mean no disrespect, you had to 60 years or older, walk with a cane, or be over 300 lbs.

No players from the 90's, really. It's like great football players quit playing in the 80's and beyond.

Usually those type of lists have too much of a recency bias. This one had the opposite problem.

Brown was a man among boys. He was like Bo Jackson playing against a middle school team every time he stepped on the field.

They have a huge bias on players with successful NFL careers. Primary example: Emmitt Smith is ahead of Tebow.

They were just honoring the old men before they die. Calm down

You think the Heisman is a popularity contest now - the guy who won it in Brown’s SR season threw for fewer yards in the entire 10-game season than Burrow did in the CFP alone. And he threw fewer TD passes all year than Burrow did in the first 10 minutes of the OU game. Plus he had 13 INTs. And he played for a team that finished 2-8.

Why did he win? Because that 2-8 team was Notre Dame.

Brown didn't get significant playing time until his senior year in spite of being the best all around athlete in all of college. He was the Jackie Robinson of CFB.

His finishing 5th in the Heisman his senior year was a joke, as he was clearly better than all of those ahead of him.

His superior NFL career when significantly less hindered for playing time and touches due to the color of his skin (led the NFL in rushing 8 of 9 seasons and led fricking Cleveland to a championship) speak to what could have been.

Best all time... dunno. Generational issues complicate that argument, but, an All Era Great, absolutely

Danny Weurffell wasn't ranked in the Top 150.

He won 4 SEC Championships, 1 Heisman, 1 NC, and played in another.

When I heard ESPN would reveal the top 25 yesterday, I assumed Tebow/Walker would both either be 1 or 2. I went and looked at the list before the game and saw Tebow listed at 76.

I don't understand how that's justifiable. He finished top 3 in Heisman voting 3 times
