At what point does Georgia stop playing Georgia Tech? GT is a complete joke
They whupped up on Pitt better than the Vols did.
They are a joke. But by that reference , so is half of the SEC.

Trip to Knoxville is the only difficult game this fall.

I get the backlash, but why was his question bad? He is correct. We typically do play a good OOC schedule and at first glance we do not this year. Oklahoma was just taken off the schedule by the SEC. It was a reasonable question.
He's simply attempting to troll. His question isn't legit.

FSU is our biggest rival. Why would we drop them?

When you compare Georgia to Florida’s schedule next year it’s actually mind boggling how much more difficult UF’s is.
Leaving off common East opponents UF has to play @Utah, @LSU, vs Arkansas, vs FSU
Meanwhile UGA has Ole Miss and Auburn

Our home schedule sucks and has since the SEC went to divisions. With FL being in JAX every year and Tech not caring about Football combined with Auburn being off and UT just starting to recover it’s been pretty bad.
It’s why I quit buying season tickets ten years ago. Somehow they haven’t lost my address though and still ping me for a few bucks every year.

I’ll bully ugas schedule as much as the next guy it has been trash lately and last year’s uga schedule might be the easiest run a playoff champ has had. But give the devil his due. Uga and usce play in the same division and both have permanent out of conference opponents yet usce schedule is normally twice as daunting. The reason for this is uga has been handling business. They beat their in state rival, cross division rival(bama certainly helped here), and all east competition into the dirt which affords them the luxury of an easy schedule. Usce let their instate rival, cross division rival, and east competition pass them so even tho uga adds an extra big game with their three out of conference spots and usce never does. The usce schedule is harder. Florida is drifting further from uga and closer to usce btw.

I get UGA fans frustation playing GATech every year with little reward.
This could be used to against out of conference competition that would excite fans. They are basically wasting an away game. Plus they will never get any credit beating Georgia Tech.
It probably would help Georgia Tech not to play them for 10 years and get a boost to recruiting.

There is unseen reward for uga to play gt. It keeps them under their paw. Gt hasn’t done real recruiting since pre Paul Johnson(kinda funny how that resulted in uga and Clemson best run since the 80s) Gt could easily climb back to being an above average team(do they want to is another debate) but its much harder with uga on schedule keeps the hierarchy in check. In terms of acc ooc teams. FSU Florida is probably the most important with Florida being the hotbed for recruiting that it is you need inside track on that state. You could debate Clem scar as the least beneficial(Clemson needs better ooc opponents and scar needs less talented teams on theirs)

Isn’t this the first time since 1965 that UF is traveling out of Florida to play an OOC game?

Cogent Post.
The downside of the Tech game is that they want to be Cal Poly/MIT and I’m convinced if they could get away with it they’d go full throttle thus direction. Their AD exists primarily out of tradition.
The fans that they have left are the most insufferable, bitter, dejected group of folks you’ll encounter. And frankly it’s not their fault. They didn’t sign up to be a part of a university that only cares about and has abandoned everything but the human genome project.
Take some time and go visit a GT message board. Their identity is hating UGA. That’s not hyperbole. Most of the graduates of the Institute don’t care about COFH, the ones who do are worst than a bride left at the alter and it’s easiest just to blame Georgia.

I contend that GT, Northwestern, ND, Stanford and a few others need to form an Ivy League 2.0 conference where the playing field on admissions is leveled.

Never said for you to drop FSU. I said you should dominate them to the point UGA has GT. Then your schedule would have a guaranteed rival W too.

Would actually like to see gt vandy virgina duke, Stanford cal northwestern pull a ivy move but on p5 level and start their own conference and only play other like minded universities that still care about academics. They wouldn’t get the paychecks they’re getting now but the student experience would be better and I’d probably watch

Since you are a basketball school, why you care?

Not sure how that’s relevant when FSU has been a major power since the 80’s.
And we played in Dallas a few years ago.
