For those comparing Missouri to Tennessee (I know it wasn't you) remember that Mizzou beat UT 50-17 in Knoxville 11 days ago. Mizzou is one of the best teams in the conference and if their head coach wasn't a boob they would be 10-2 or maybe 11-1.

I'm still not sure why we rely on the opinions of non-football people to determine who our college football champions are.
...except that, of course, if we used an objective criterion for ranking teams, the big name schools wouldn't be ranked so high.
Which leads me to the answer to your question, Florida is a big name school in football, while Kentucky is a perennial doormat. That's why they're ranked higher.

Honestly, even as a UF homer the only reason I can think of is our "legacy" and the optics of your loss to UT. Don't know if it really matters at this point in the season. We ended on the season on a high note after some low points.

Yeah I don't even think it matters. UK has the head to head win which means they get the better bowl game right? Doesn't matter where the playoff committee ranks you.

I think the bowls can ignore standings right? So if they want UF (more football fans the UK probably so more $) a New Year's six bowl would likely pick them over us

Standings don't matter. They have to go by the CFP rankings. Same reason Ole Miss got the Sugar over us in 2015.
