Why is Bama's Bye the week before LSU if Tennessee is their biggest rival?

Why does Bama and Tennessee hold the SEC divisional alignment hostage over this game when it obviously doesn't mean that much to these teams?
Neither team feels like they should spend more than a week in prepping for the other. Some rivalry.

Who said Tennessee is our biggest rival? It's Auburn.

I'll pretend you're not an idiot and say:
SEC Teams do not get to choose their bye weeks.

Tennessee is a historical rivalry. Kind of like Gt and Georgia.
LSU is not a team that Bama necessarily hates. We've always had a lot of respect for their program and yes we love to beat them when we do but they're not a rival in the sense that we hate them like we do say, Auburn or Tennessee.
Why make it into something that it's not?

Because the SEC always schedules a conference opponent the week before Tennessee, so Bama is never given the option of taking a bye.

Bama isn't really part of the "SEC Teams." Most of the board will agree.

Bama needs time to recover from the TSIO. It’s always a grueling, intense game.
Hence, the bye.
Hence, the bye.

Why does Ole Miss have a bye week before South Carolina?

It’s LSU has been for over a decade now

During Coach Bryant's days Bama had a open date before 10RC and the Barn. The Bama vs UT situation is much different even though Bama beat them 10 in a row in the 70's much like this 11 in a row deal.

Correct.
The REC chooses for them.

Usually banged up by this time of the season(which we are) try to be as healthy as possible when playing the most physical team in the SEC.

Because it's in the near middle of the season...

So far, Bama's entire season has been a bye week.

Same reason why LSU has a bye week. Both teams know it will be the most physical game of the year.
