Why is Bama so soft on both lines the last couple years?

O-line getting manhandled for 2 years now. Bryce was nearly killed in his tenure. Gibbs was great at Rb but no real physical running game for a quite awhile. Our players aren’t bigger than anyone else anymore. I question the recruiting rankings. Milroe had his problems but I think the whole operation is being ruined in both trenches. Hell if Milroe was Bryce young apparently we can’t even make the playoff so I don’t understand what has happened in that department. But it is catastrophic.

I just think saban needs some upgrades at position coaches. Don't forget you have one of the top two or three most talented teams in the country. On paper far more talented than we are for sure

Boy it sickens me to have to say…..possibly true. A truly horrible morning which only my Tennessee titans can save with a win today

It is very noticeable and seems like it happened very quickly. Playing in the trenches takes a special type of mindset. Saban used to be the best at finding those guys and his coaches were great at bringing it out of the guys. Last couple years they haven't been anywhere near as intimidating as they were.

NIL evened the paying field

I think the transfer portal has more to do with it than NIL. Two of the most prominent players for Texas last night were transfers from Ohio State.
It hurts even more on the lines as it can take 2-3 years for offensive lineman to develop and becoming a cohesive unit is difficult when your depth for upcoming seasons is transferring out.

I was saying the other day we lost our hard edge after SC left. Just hasn’t been the same

I think it has to do with the NIL paying kids that used to go to bama that now go elsewhere and transfer portal allowing guys that used to wait their turn at bama to transfer out. Saban's reign of dominance seems to be at an end.

Bama fans were probably having flashbacks to the Natty loss to UGA with A. Mitchell scoring that crucial 4th quarter TD in that game, then shredding up their secondary last night...again. The transfer portal has definitely changed things.

The toughness left Bama when Kirby left. As his players matriculated out so did the mindset of toughness. Iron sharpens iron bitches get used to it. We all know where the process was and is now.

You may have something there. He came to Georgia and we took the edge away from you.

A combination of a lot of things.
Saban's age - don't think that's not being used against Bama on the recruiting trail and he is starting to think more like Joe Biden every day.
NIL - the great players are naturally more spread out
Coordinators coming and going - the up and coming show up, build their resume and then leave
Unable to develop coordinators - the ones that don't leave, get fat and happy, dui's and just can't develop into better coordinators: Pete Golding is a great example
The players who do come to Bama are not the very best often and they have maturity aka entitlement issues
Refs not giving the once great Bama the benefit of the doubt.
Reality hitting hard for some Bama fans who still did not see the writing on the wall - go have a look at Tidefans. Good God, it's hilarious.

Kirby owes everything he is and has to Nick Saban. His program is a carbon copy of Saban.

Last night proved Alabama badly needed to snag Bo Davis the many times they had an opening.
