They score more points than their opponents.

Bruce Pearl. He has those kids convinced they can run through a brick wall.

He’s only had 2 or 3 misses in his entire time at Auburn imo

They are definitely more patient with basketball coaches. Pearls first 3 years there were nothing special. Good for them for letting him get everything in place
We understood the expectations when we hired him and he was finishing a show-cause for what happened at Tennessee.

In their defense, it is a little easier managing a basketball team roster compared to a football roster of over 75 primadonnas. Five primadonnas is bad enough, but luckily in basketball you typically only have them for a year or two.

Why is Gonzaga so good at basketball? They don’t even have a football team..

One simple reason is Pearl is not scared to get very talented but short guards.
Green, KD, Jasper, Harper, and Brown are very good college players but some coaches may pass on them due to height.
IMO short guards ten to stay around longer as well.

Any time you have two great big men, you're going to be very good. Auburn has two that just happen to be 7 footers.
Having said that, Auburn has so much talent that I actually think they're underperforming and should be even better.

Hell there’s a lot of SEC teams like this.
Not Georgia, but others.

The honest answer is Bruce Pearl has had long enough to build his team the way he wants and he has, IMHO, the best player in college in terms of impacting a game.
Hire a good coach, get out of their way, give them what they need to succeed. Viola.

I think Pearl has the rare ability to go get top talent, let them play a style of basketball naturally appealing to them and with a lot of autonomy, but without letting things go off the rails due to personalities/egos.
Whether it's real or fake, the only way he does that is by making these guys feel like Pearl cares about them. That's how you get a guy who is months away from being a mega star to buy in to what you're doing. It's personal loyalty, and Pearl is extremely gifted in fostering it. And it goes several levels deep - when he is blunt about a player in the press, I think that lends credibility/authenticity (in the eyes of the kid) when he subsequently lavishly praises that player a few weeks later.

So no other school has that problem?
