I get it, but no one around here cares about soccer or minor league hockey. Two championships in 41 years is great, but it's all the times we had defeat snatched from the jaws of victory
There is victory. Thats the point.
Every city has had defeat snatched from the jaws of victory. Even yankee fans. Celtic/laker fans, etc..
It is kind of like UGA fans feeling cursed with the injury bug.
Every team has a season like we are having at some point in the last 10 years. It aint just us.

The Atlanta/Georgia sports fanbase is bitch made. It doesn't help that there are so many transplants to the area, and many of those people still have their loyalty to whatever rustbelt area professional teams they grew up pulling for "back home".
And I am saying that knowing damn well that I am part of the problem. I quit giving a shite about the NBA when the Hawks went through their playoff drought in the early 2000s. I quit following the NFL after the Falcons shite the bed vs. the Broncos, and later adopted another NFL team when I was living outside of GA and still pull for that new team even when they are playing the Falcons.
Bulldog fans are basically the personification of Eeyore because of the heartbreak we've experienced, and nothing short of winning a national title will fix that. We don't give a shite about Bulldog baseball or basketball, two sports that with athletes from the ATL metro area alone we should be dominant at.
I remember the Braves 1991 season vividly, and that NL West race was vs. the Dodgers when the Braves clinched in the next to last game of the season. I've hated that team for a damn long time which has made the Braves playoff failures vs. them suck that much more. frick the Dodgers, and I want the Braves to get this fricking monkey off their back.
(I posted this on the ATL Sports board about an hour ago because I didn't see this thread on here. This thread seems like a better place for it than the NLCS Game thread.)

In 96 outscored Yanks 16-1 in those first two games.

I have 99% faith that the Braves will lose the next 2 games in Atlanta.

Bobby Cox wasted talent more than Kirby. How do you not win multiple World Series when you have a rotation of Maddux, Glavin, and Smoltz?
Because we had no bats! Yes, we had Chipper, but the rest of offense was very middle of the pack. David Justice hit a solo homerun to win the series against the Indians 1-0.
I'm not sure we had any hitters near .300 BA during the regular season during those years with the exception of Chipper, TP and Justice, maybe.

Braves are different than Georgia. Georgia has never had the best team in the nation in my lifetime. Several of those Braves teams were the best in the league. They definitely should of won 1 or 2 more from that era.

We're in the middle of a new entry to the list against the dodgers now.

As a Georgia sports fan I'm willing to trade UGA's national title this season to get the Braves to the WS
I'm willing to make that sacrifice

As only a Braves fan, I'm willing to make that sacrifice too.

Would you rather be a Missouri sports fan? All 5 pro teams across the state have won a championship in the last decade.
But the catch is that you have to cheer for Mizzou

Rafael Belliard should have just bunted every time.

Schurholz always blew his wad on the starting rotation, and they had one or two big time sluggers at a time, who were constantly being rotated out and traded. Over a large sample size pitching wins, but in the clutch, hot bats matter a ton. Seems to me.

Don't forget the 1980 Atlanta Falcons....The Dallas Cowboys scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to come from behind and defeat the Falcons 30–27 for a spot in the NFC Championship. Talk about blowing a title!
However....the Georgia Bulldogs DID win the national title that year, 17-10, over Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Sugar Bowl.
Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!

Let's get some positivity here.
1990 - Georgia Baseball becomes the first SEC team to win the College World Series.
1990 - Georgia Tech wins the football National Championship. (I wonder why you guys keep leaving that one out of the Atlanta/Georgia title count.
