Mike is looked after by the large animal vet school. Does Bama have one? I was under the impression they were only a few in the country.

Obviously the lack of a large vet school wouldn't prohibit having an elephant, but having one would certainly make it easier.

We don't deal with animals at UA. That's for the barn.

I think Crockett ALREADY asked us to make that visualization:

I think it would be pretty badass and elephants are easily trained so it could be brought on the field.

This has probably been mentioned already, but only the Indian Elephant is trainable. The African Elephant is considerably larger and is not trainable. The reason I say this is because the elephant used for all of the BAMA pictures, mascots, apparel, etc. resembles the African Elephant.

They should just get a wave pool. And dye the water crimson.

THIS

Alabama ignores its mascot about as much as Auburn does. Maybe worse -----> at least Auburn says "Go Tigers".

I would love for Alabama to start a "Go Elephants" cheer.

Why would alabama get an real elephant as a mascot? Isn't their mascot plankton... or more accurately diatoms?

Don't tell that to the Pittsburgh Zoo!

quote:

Willie Theison, who manages the elephant program for the zoo, doesn't often get animals from the African wild.

"Now I have to transition into their world instead of them transitioning into mine," he said. Part of his responsibilities include training the animals in basic cues, which would ease the process of bathing and footwork, he said. Since the animals were trained in an African elephant orphanage, they already know the commands for the tricks -- but only if they're spoken in Sinhalese.

I don't think we can get an elephant in the 3x6 cage like Mike's.

Alabama wouldn't have to buy one. They can hold a contest with the contestants coming from their female fan base.
