the Tigers nickname is so prevalent in sports that it's kind of mundane. Bayou Bengals is much cooler imo.

They'll probably change it to that once Fighting Tigers is deemed to be racist.

Personally, I think the Georgia 2-losses-per-year-to-inferior-teams-Bulldogs has a nice ring to it.

Incident happened on 11/5/2017, complaint made on 4/28/2018, arrest warrant issued on 5/22/18, turned himself into the police the next day.

And the charge was filming a consensual act that took place in his dorm room without permission from the girl.

Yeah, totally the same thing as beating the shite out of your girlfriend and giving her enough mental issues where she can't pursue her tennis career then the athletic department covering it up.

If you cannot see the difference in those two incidents, then maybe it isn't just an institutional problem at LSU, but a cultural problem.

I agree.

They should also just wear those home purples, since those are their actual colors.

Because the civil war regiment we named ourselves after called themselves the Tigers, not the Bayou Bengals.

Well we were the tigers first.

Then someone realized there was alliteration to be had.

But you don’t just change your nickname.

As a football fan Bengals sound pretty cool. Of course, the barners are very unique when they refer to themselves as War Eagles. What's cooler than that? Then they run out that anemic-looking tiger. I'd let Mizzou and Clemson have the tiger mascot and good riddance.

Been quite a number of sports teams changing nicknames the last few years. I didn't know LSU Tigers were named for a Civil War regiment, but since that is so, it may actually score a few points with some people to go with Bayou Bengals, which imo would be one of the coolest nicknames in college football. Similarly, I like that Crimson Tide is different than most.

edit to add that if I were an Auburn fan I'd prefer War Eagles to Tigers, for the same reason.
