I see nothing wrong with Barkley being proud of the school at a special moment like making the final four and their run through the Sweet 16 in the opening round. Now if he displays it all next year, that could become tiresome.

Why does CBS allow

They will not let him go, which is about the only card they have with a personality like Sir Charles.

He is a ratings draw for his antics even when non-Auburn related.

Personally I love it. Much better than the Greg McElroy's and Herbstreit's of the world trying so unconvincingly and annoyingly (to all fans) to sound unbiased.

Desmond, like Barkley, stays true to his alma mater. Embrace the bias and enjoy the passion. It is what college sports is about.

Wolf, you ignorant slut. Sir Charles is a National treasure. You don’t like it turn the channel.

I agree

Sometimes people go out of there way to try and be TOO Neutral.

I mean I understand he rightfully criticized them, but Herbie is basically hated and run out of town because of what he had to say about OSU. I feel like he did that just to say "im not a homer"

The silliness of the setup fits Barkley's personality perfectly. College sports are fun, lighten up Francis.

I thought it was awesome.

I hate it when the alum pretend to be objective...let them homer it up and talk shite.

It's fun.

their college gear on the national TV set like they have with Barkley and auburn. It is like the little kid made it big so it is ok. Can you imagine the uproar if say the Ohio State guy did the same.

Because every time Charles opens his mouth the cash register at CBS rings like a MF.

Give me the CBS analysts pregame and halftime over the ESPN crew anyday.

Rece Davis is horrible and his strong arse offer comment was ridiculous. Williams and Bilas are so sanctimonious. Then they have some retread coach on there that isn't coaching for a reason.

No question it’s ton of free pub. But you either tell Barkley to curtail it or you let him go on those grounds. Neither of which would go over well. That said I like Barkley.

You do know the network sets up those AU props, right? They deck out the set for Barkley and they let him be him on the show. So the network doesn't plan to curtail what they're doing any time soon.

Barkley’s best line of the day was “I never thought I’d say these words, I look forward to going to Minnesota next weekend”. He says things that nobody else can get away with.

Why?

The Barkley AU superfan segment is one of the more popular segments this March madness

Chuck is as honest as they come - a breath of fresh air. He's a good guy that everyone loves, even us Bammers.

Would it really make anyone feel any better if we all play along like we don’t know exactly who these guys are rooting for? Was there any question that Charles was going to root for his former team? Or any other personality? I’m not going to poopoo a guy rooting for his old school because it might make me feel better to delude myself. Plus it’s Barkley, any other behavior would be disappointing.
