Yeah, the cheerleaders at UT-Austin are not the tough ranchers. I’m sure that cracks you up as well.

Growing up in Austin when it was more of a college town, when you'd hear cars honking all over town after a win, etc, the presence of Aggies and Longhorns was more obvious. Lots of friends and neighbors had Aggy ties. We all knew a bunch of Aggy jokes when I was a kid. It was so much fun. I don't remember knowing a single Sooner fan.
It's every bit as meaningful as the rivalry with Oklahoma. It's just very different. It feels more personal for sure.

Yeah, I actually think these are great looks for Austin!
But this tent dress on y’all’s Coach Elko is actually pretty sad…

They would be perfect in San Francisco as well.

It is not hard to understand the difference between the two... unless you are a Mizzou, Arky, or LSU fan who doesn't have an in state rival or maybe the typical Flag/Ag set up.
A&M and Texas is no different than Bama/Auburn... Ole Miss/State and all the rest in terms of the dynamic involved.
Obviously Texas and OU is a border rivalry... So Ga/Fla or Bama/Tenn.
The main difference is that Oklahoma and Texas are probably more joined at the hip so to speak than any other two SEC states are. If an Okie leaves Oklahoma... he is probably moving to Texas and a lot of them have... and Texas is the main source of people who move to Oklahoma.
The Longhorns actually have a decent sized presence in Oklahoma. In central and southern Oklahoma you see more Texas stuff than any other out of state school. However, in NE Oklahoma there are Hog fans and alums all over the place.

Lol. “Shipley Ranches”.
Y’all are the most pretend cowboys. Pathetic.

holding up Jordan Shipley as an example of your "UT fake cowboy" strawman is a hell of a retarded choice. The dude is 100% country and would be an aggie folk hero had he gone to TAMU.

quote:In my experience, in football, Longhorns fans care a lot more about losing to A&M. This is because they have long ago accepted OU as their eternal football daddy, and they don't lose any more self respect by losing to OU yet again.
Some longhorn fans would rather not lose to OU and some would rather not lose to A&M.
But to gauge the intensity of rivalries, you have to look at sports that don't otherwise matter. There again, I think sips care more about the A&M matches than the OU matches, but I could be wrong.

Outside of football, I definitely view A&M as the bigger rival. OU is generally pretty mediocre at other sports so they tend not to be much of a threat, while TAMU has invested in their burning desire to beat tu across the board, resulting in more heated competition.

Yes, we had aggies all over the small South Texas town where I grew up, including relatives, so I actually agree with you.
But I needed to defend the OP troll thesis that I started with, in order to complete a consistent thread essay, ha…

That photo has been around for a long, long time. My guess is that it probably originated back in the '80's.
