Yep. What a lot of people don’t know, especially those who don’t know the history of Title IX or didn’t live then, is that the SEC and many other universities had men’s soccer teams and other men’s sports, like boxing (LSU had a good boxing program and even had a couple of national championships). No one that I know of has a boxing program anymore.
Stuff just had to be cut. Some of the best programs in America became DIII (don’t offer scholarships) or became club teams (USC, UC Berkeley BYU, etc.). BYU was a powerhouse and has won the NIRSA championship 11 times. They are the only college team to become a USL franchise.

As for men's soccer, I don't care about soccer, but the answer has been said ad nauseum in here and a couple dumbasses don't want to listen. Title IX. We added men's soccer to offset. It's not rocket science.
