re: Could Houston or DFW support a second pro sports franchise in the same league?

Two teams in the same market no longer makes financial sense. Move the Mets to Charlotte, White Sox to Nashville, Angels to SLC, Jets to San Antonio and Chargers to San Diego

Maybe they'll fix it in the new $10 billion retractable roof stadium that the owner will demand in the next 10-15 years.

Never understood why rugby isn't bigger then soccer here.
re: FIFA to examine 64-team World Cup expansion before 2030 tournament

quote:FIFA did this to guarantee Arabs would get it again in 2034. Rule is you can't host if your continent hosted one of the last 2 cups. This eliminated NA, SA, Europe and Africa from 2034. Ironically this means only NA or New Zealand can host in 2038, so FIFA will change the rule again to guarantee China gets it.
Apparently Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay automatically qualify for hosting the opening matches that’s some real bullshite.

FIFA will keep expanding until China is guaranteed to make it everytime.

This. No one does this better. They like to point out that if you remove every game A&M lost to Texas, then they'd have a winning record.

Christian McCaffrey. Give McCaffrey as soccer ball for his 3rd bday and he's the greatest soccer player of all time.
re: USA hosts the World Cup and chooses MetLife stadium for the championship game?
Posted by Ron McKelvey on 7/19/26 at 3:04 pm to Kansas City King
Because FIFA is so corrupt and US soccer is so woke so they were never giving it to Dallas or another red state even though it is by far the best option. Same reason why the US team only played at the left coast when Dallas, Houston and Atlanta made more sense.
re: How did Missouri get into the SEC?
Posted by Ron McKelvey on 7/19/26 at 3:00 pm to KingSooner2026
Real answer - SEC needed someone to partner A&M and UNC and VT stupidly said no. Also heard NC State was asked but can't confirm.

Messi is the soccer GOAT but when you combine athleticism and technical skills, most college and pro football, baseball and hockey players are above him. So are the basketball players with actual skills instead of using just they're size.
re: NY Knicks best team over US Men's hockey team lmao

Knicks aren't even top 3. Indiana football and OU baseball were much bigger stories and accomplishments.
re: Who's more famous at their peak Michael Jordan or Lionel Messi?

Ronaldo is probably more famous than Messi.
re: Who's more famous at their peak Michael Jordan or Lionel Messi?
Posted by Ron McKelvey on 7/16/26 at 8:53 pm to FlyingTigerBo
Better question is Jordan or Pele. Messi is more popular because of the internet and social media. Most Americans can at least recognize his name. That wouldn't have been true if he played in the 90s. With that said, Jordan had a bigger impact on basketball than Messi for soccer.
re: Would it be better if more colleges started
Posted by Ron McKelvey on 7/11/26 at 12:03 pm to nicholastiger
Most college rosters are filled by euros and africans who's ceiling is getting a tryout with MLS. Some school in MO bragged that they're entire roster was foreigners.
re: Why do USC and UK have men's soccer teams?
Posted by Ron McKelvey on 7/11/26 at 11:54 am to UKWildcats
quote:Never heard of men's teams being added because of Title 9. It's almost always adding a women's team or getting rid of a men's team.
As for men's soccer, I don't care about soccer, but the answer has been said ad nauseum in here and a couple dumbasses don't want to listen. Title IX. We added men's soccer to offset. It's not rocket science.
