There are two dynasties in the SEC

Alabama football

Kentucky basketball

Both have won National Championships with 3 or more different head coaches and have won National Championships over 3 different generations or eras. If you think dynasties are achieved with a single coach or in under a decade you clearly do not understand how dynasties work.

Which LSU person kept saying that national championships weren't as good as SEC Championships?? Of course, that may have been before Bama won the last 3 out of 4 SEC Championships.

Bama became the 1st team to win back-to-back SEC Championships since the late 90's.

Back-to-back Natties, 2011 (beat LSU) & 2012 (beat Notre Dame).

When it's newsworthy that a program hasn't won a championship in 3 seasons, that program is a dynasty.

Pretty close to 100 years

Alabama - Bama dynasty probably started with Wallace Wade. Wade to Thomas to Bryant to Stallings to Saban.

Kentucky - Cats dynasty probably started with Adolph Rupp. Rupp to Hall to Pitino to Smith to Calipari.

While both had some dud coaches in between, both have survived and remain at or near the top after 50 years of solid winning. The key to becoming a dynasty is winning at the top after the first coach has departed, so one coach teams are not dynasties. Same can be said for duration as Miami won 5 MNC's but was not a power prior to the drug fueled cocaine cowboys era and has not been a power since.

Single coaches or limited spurts are rocket rides, not dynasties…

In the immortal words of the late TV commentator Al McGuire -
"They had it before you, they had it during you, they'll have it when you're gone"...."

That is how you define dynasty

Correct. Or when a program loses so few times, that it becomes very memorable. that everyone can name those 3 losses instantly of the top of their head to try to prove some point.

Anyone care to educate me as to what other schools have had 88% winning % over a period of about 8 years? # of wins is a funky stat because we play more games now, screws with season and career stats too.

But I wonder who has matched that winning % over nearly a decade. Osborne? I don't think Jimmy Johnson/Erickson did, but that spanned much longer. Oklahoma?

Barry Switzer won 84% at Oklahoma. (Then they got hammered by the NCAA cause he was a dirty dirty motherfricker)
