Look at LSU. Talking quarterbacks like they have a history of success

You mean like two #1 overall picks at the position in the last 15 years?

That kind of success?

Do you mean the time NFL scouts lost their mind on "Purple Drank"?

Bert Jones was LSU's claim to fame for the longest. Get over yourself.

Get this straight. I mean really let this marinate. Jimbo actually cares about player development more than wins.

He is genuine. And authentic. And his players will walk through fire for him because he cares about THEM more than winning.

This is why he recruits at such a high level. He invested in Mond because it was the right thing to do.

It’s as simple as that. And what happened? He had tons of super seniors return. Why? Because they love him. That’s why.

Now Mond is in the NFL. And it’s Kings turn. Now he will build Haynes and Zack.

But keep considering our QBs bad. I promise Jimbo will have them ready. They have had an entire year under him and they were hand selected by him.

My worry is actually the opposite. That King does so well he’s gone in two years. But whatever. Y’all keep dreaming.

It should worry you when you see Jimbo. His players think he’s the next messiah.

You shouldn't be worried about that. We'll have Conner Weigman right after him.

You will be surprised by King, who is not afraid to go downfield with the football. He also is one of the fastest players on the team

King's upcoming performance is pure, abject speculation at this point. I just don't get the strange confidence as there is almost zero evidence beyond message board ramblings to support he is going to be a more effective downfield passer than Mond.

The last clips we have of him are one garbage time drive against 'Bama where he threw an interception. Prior to that, he had a fairly mediocre senior year of high school when he had multiple meltdowns and showed a tendency to throw straight into double and triple coverage. I have heard this explained away as he was injured but the team never confirmed that.

He is obviously a very, very good athlete but so was Mond before Jimbo locked him down. We forget in his freshman year he ripped off multiple 50+ yard runs.

I hope King is everything we hoped for but the past does not support the extreme confidence that we are somehow trading up.

Remember these games?

Jesuit Beats Longview

quote:

The Lobos finished with 180 yards on 32 carries with 118 passing yards. Lobo quarterback Haynes King finished 5-of-17 for 118 yards and an interception and had dropped passes from his receivers, especially early.

“We just didn’t execute very well whether it was penalties, errant throws or dropped balls,” John King said.

The ESPN game against John Tyler

quote:

The Lions actually played well in the secondary against highly touted Longview quarterback Haynes King, a Texas A&M commit. JT picked off three of King’s passes — one each by Kitan Crawford, the Texas commit, Isaiah Johnson and D’Jonte Henderson. Tyrone Williams also recovered a Lobo fumble.

King connected on 8 of 18 passing attempts for 110 yards.

The recent spring game?

Haynes King looks crappy in Spring Game

quote:

aynes King’s Saturday could’ve easily ended with an interception and a limp to the injury tent.

If that were to describe a Saturday in October, King would be facing a good amount of heat. It wasn’t. King, in a non-contact green No. 13 uniform, was somehow banged up twice during Texas A&M’s spring game on Saturday. It was by no means an “I’m the man, let’s go” type of performance for King.

It was full of reminders that a quarterback who throws 3 interceptions and takes 7 total sacks in a season is a luxury.

Let's see if we can identify a pattern. Of the 8 listed plus the guy from 2012, you have:

One kicked off team due to a domestic dispute.
One kicked off team after punching a woman at a bar.
One kicked off team due to rule violations.
Two that are on their 3rd (or 4th team) team.
One that was not kicked off the team but really, really likes crab legs.

It appears far more likely that Jimbo doesn't have a QB evaluation problem. He has a character evaluation problem.

Your entire posting history revolves around King not being good

If he does well you will have negative credibility (currently at zero).

Deondre Francois was legit. Once upon a time he was absolutely elite. But the rest of the offense was hot dumpster juice with the exception of Dalvin Cook. After Cook left it was a one man show and he got frustrated. He stayed loyal to FSU and paid dearly for it.

If you want to watch surefire talent get absolutely squandered, he’s a prime example. The eval was fine though.

Actually, most of it is about Jimbo not being a great coach.

King is just an unproven cog in the wheel.

My meth addiction is a choice (High quality stuff that gets me in the right state of mind for Ranting). Your 5’3” build, your ghoulish face, and your racist ways are not choices.

Those are curses

I hope so . . . one thing I do know about Fisher is that the starter will get the benefit of the doubt and King will be ready to go by year end. I am curious about his early to mid season performance. With all these things, I hope my skepticism is incredibly off base and he achieves great things.

As an aside, Sumlin was such a sh%tty coach in hindsight the way he was constantly playing Murray and Kyle Allen off against one another. The dude almost tried to piss people off.

I am not sure why his talent was "squandered". Francois seems like a headcase.

- Fisher got a tremendous 2016 season out of him.

- He tore his knee up and missed the whole 2017 season

- He then beat up his girlfriends, got kicked out of school, and has been wandering in the woods ever since.

Since 2013 Jimbo is 64-23 (39-18). That's a 73.6% (68.4%) winning %.

That is pretty on par with what Ed O has done at Lsu. 76.3 & 70.

If you take away some of Jimbo's best seasons, he's what Ed O has done in the best run of his career? Is that the thread you're trying to make?
