Arkansas was never in the Big 12.
They are a card carrying Big 12 member. Even back in their early SWC days, they were a natural Big Eight fit. Would’ve had nice rivalries with OU, Mizzou, and they did have a nice little rivalry with OKSt back in the day.

I miss those days. Austin ain’t the same town anymore.

Gotta say UT already feels more like an SEC squad than aggy

I honestly like Oklahoma as a state. Mostly rural and conservative. Austin is just a cesspool though. I can tolerate some liberals but those people have taken it to a California level of gross.
Here's where you're wrong, though. Texas is not just Austin. The University of Texas is embraced by Texans across the whole state. It always has been.
To be honest, Austin isn't but a drop in the bucket when it comes to the total eyes and ears of fans in the state of Texas.

With the advent of the 12-team playoff, I honestly think the competitive need for the expanded conferences has gone the other direction.
Agreed.

South carolina is the only expansion school that made sense. Fsu was the best fit and should of been usce pairing but they declined.

I will offer this distinction: the sips aren’t the problem in Austin. Austin, more than anything is an infection for the university. Sips, while of questionable educational choices, are generally solid Texans. Austin has been co-opted by the new arrivals to the state and has lost the libertarian leaning it once possessed.
Austin IS a shite hole but it has nothing to do with the university there.

You sure about that?

You better hope your town doesn't become popular for California transplants. That's all I can tell you. Austin used to be filled with hippies and rednecks, and the hippies here were libertarians. All gone
I know man. It was once a really cool place. The tranny and blm shite have taken it to a really bad place

That’s not how it went at all. Arkansas was in no matter what on the first expansion. The question wasn’t will it be Arkansas/ Florida St, it was, who is coming along with Arkansas

Well, the phrase "Keep Austin weird" has been around since the 80s, so there is that.
Sadly, the endless Cali blue tide refugees rolling into Austin are taking a quaint artist-based phrase and turned it into a sad, sour woke recipe.
But Texas shoulders are big enough to handle some internal weirdness...

Well, the world is ending, and donkeys are flying. A Longhorn is in agreement with an Aggie.
Well said...
My best friend still lives in Austin, and it gets harder to recognize every time I go back there, beautiful and lively as it is.
Austin's becoming like Cali in more than one sense...it is for more blessed by nature (and intrinsically worthy) then most of it's residents these days deserve. That really saddens me.
