Kentucky is a good team with a solid defense, depth, and excellent line play on both sides of the ball. They've had a big gaping hole at QB that has held them back in a big way the last few years.

If they ever get a decent QB, the rest of the pieces they need to challenge for the East are already in place.

It isn’t hype. It’s just regular chatter that other teams take for granted. It just seems like hype because UK is being talked about outside basketball season. So refreshing.

I have no idea, like someone in the thread said: "I'll believe the hype when they prove they can actually move the ball"

I would say the hype comes from having an elite offensive line, one of the best running backs in the conference, 2 very good wide outs, a transfer qb everyone is high on and 9 seniors on defense that have played a ton of football on some solid defenses in the past. There is potential for a perfect storm to be brewing if they can all put it together.

Lmaoo one win over Florida 4 years ago isn’t consistent with the “spoiler label”

We’ve gone to 5 bowls in a row, winning the last 3, with a shite OC and at one point a WR running at QB.

We’ve hired a new OC who has brought in a decent QB. We still have a fantastic OLine. And one of the better RBs in the conference. The defense won’t take a huge step back either.

There’s no reason to think they shouldn’t get some hype since deficiencies that have held them back got addressed.

But still a very long way from an East tithe. Or didn’t we prove that to y’all a couple of years ago in Lexington.

I look forward to watching clemson bend you over a barrel and seeing Georgia fans vanish for several weeks

I thought they looked pretty good last year a physical rushing attack with a pretty good defense. They just couldn’t pass the ball over the los though. If they get that figured out they may have a pretty decent team this season

You are correct. We’ve pretty much been able to call our shot on how many rushing yards per game we want the past few years. Minus a few games. We will never have a problem running the ball. We haven’t really had a single QB under stoops that was even 2nd string at any other schools in the conference. So it’s a breath of fresh air having Levis and Coen on board. We’ve had as solid of a defense as anyone in the conference the past few years. We return a lot of defensive players. Same with offense. If the OC works out it should be a solid year. Need a couple of breaks to challenge Georgia but other than them, the schedule is pretty favorable.

#1: easy schedule
#2: probably found a QB that can pass for 200 yds a game, probably...
#3: Easy to pick Stoops to field a decent team by now.
#4: Much of East is rebuilding or just not really that good.
#5: Under Stoops, UK historically has an elite running game

Now, for some reality. Nobody knows what they have at QB tbh, and in spite of all the experts predicting another great UK defense, I don't think that is a given yet either. They haven't shown any pass rush lately, LB's are unproven and thin, and we need to see what the inside DL guys do this year before anyone starts labeling them stout on defense. They could easily slip to middle of the pack on D.

I don't know if their new OL coach will be as good as what they have had in the past, and the new OC hasn't proven anything yet in CFB, so there are more questions on this team than the writers bring up. Especially thinking the run game will automatically transfer with the new OC and OL coach. That is no given. The KY fans think they can plug and play with the run offense, let's see.

The kid from Nebraska will help their receiving corps, but you won't find any playmakers after him. I'm gonna let this play out before I give them 3rd place in the east automatically. Stoops is a great gameday coach, they have that in their pocket but let's just say the passing game doesn't take off right away. The new OC was brought in to fix that, he will have to stick with it early on and i could see that taking away from what they were good at in the past...running the ball.

That shite OC was the reason your run game was so good, and tethered to your HC philosophy, led to that nice little run you so proudly mention above. Ok, you think Ky can snap a magic finger and keep that run game with a new OL coach, new OC and new game approach? Let's see. That defense was aided by the ball control game Gran played also...again, lets see. It's not plug and play as you think. Gran dedicated a huge chunk of Ky's reps on keeping that run game elite.
