Dabo has done a great job but this isn't really a question

So by that logic, Chizik is a better coach than Dabo.

If Saban had been at Bama 10 years now and won a couple conference titles and one national title we could have this debate. When the gap in titles is as large as it is at the moment there is no debate unless you hate all things Bama.

Double standard? Why do you judge Saban when he has the best 85 man roster year in and year out?

How is that a double standard? Saban has won titles over a 8 year period with numerous different QBs and other talented players. Once Watson is gone after this season we will all see if Dabo can keep up the consistency with a new QB. Saban has proven he can. Jury is still out on Dabo. I think he will be able to, but we don't know yet.

If the discussion is Dabo being a better game day coach, then there is some room for an argument. The truth is recruiting is half the battle of a head coach, and Saban has no peers in recruiting.

I hate Bama, but the answer is Saban. It's not even close.

He will be at Bama one day and the Tide will continue to Roll. could be thirty years of dominance.

I am going to attempt to take all homerism aside in answering this question. The question itself is who has done a better job, not who is a better coach. Dabo's job is to win games and he's done a good job at that. He has built a staff that has the X's and O's down pat. More importantly he has taken steps up to and including a pay cut to keep that staff intact over several years. This is an accomplishment in and of itself. This frees him up to do really the one thing that he really does well, recruit. He can flat sell the university. Now if the question was better coach in the sense of player development... not really as close.

***Reengages homerism and punches himself in crotch for ever saying anything remotely positive about Clemtech or Dabo*****

Before Watson Clemson was slightly above average. Can we wait and see if Dabo can keep it up when Watson leaves, before we put him on Saban's level? He could be considered a washed up has been coach who came close, but never sealed the deal in a couple of years from now.

I think the point is that Saban has shown consistency in staying at the top as the roster turns over again and again. He has won 5 NCs with 4 different QBs (and rosters obviously) and is playing for a 6th NC with now a 5th different QB. Dabo had some success pre-Watson (an ACC Championship) but he has ridden the best QB in football to two NC appearances so there will be some question about what happens in life after Watson.

Saban had it a lot easier. Mike Shula had already turned the Bama program around and loaded the program down with NFL talent for Saban.

Dabo turned a perennial loser into a team that any year can finish as the National Champion runnerup.
