This guy again. He was one of the guys that fell in love with the idea of Hurts being a superstar and could never let it go.

Even when Hurts was putting up decent numbers in the passing game under Kiffin, I told you he wasn't a good passer. Short passes and great WR's made him look better on paper than he was.

Is this a real award? I haven't received it yet... thanks for following me though.. You guys think I give a shite what you think about my posts or some dumbass down votes? lol.

Just keep reading my posts and melting like y'all always do..

Hurts will start the season... I don't really see him losing the position.. This reminds me of when I said Blake Sims would start and be great and everybody laughed and berated me and the kid went on to break just about every single season Bama QB record. Of course all the Bama fans love Blake now right?

Did you ever tell us the games in which hurts proved he was a really good passer?

Everybody didn’t laugh. The fan base was about evenly split when it came to Sims.

Plus we didn’t know how good Sims was because that was his first season starting. With Hurts we have 2 years of tape to show he isn’t a good passer.

This reminds me of when you were wrong about Hurts the other two seasons. But, just keep digging in.

Jalen isn’t an NFL QB period. He can’t read defenses, anticipate and is not accurate. He’d be a great spread option QB for Oregon or someone like that. His biggest problem may be his loud mouthed dad. Jalen is a grown man, he doesn’t need his daddy to talk for him in the media. Makes him look weak.

How'd he do in the Sugar Bowl vs OSU?

Hurts got into a bad mental rut of relying too much on his legs and not being aggressive enough throwing the ball. Some have convinced themselves that Hurts is a bad qb. It just isn’t true at all

Hurts can pass, and he isn't a bad QB. He hasn't progressed as much as you would like to see from his freshman to sophomore year.

Hurts is a lot like Kelly Bryant at Clemson. Effective college QB with a superior supporting cast against most defenses. He will move the chains and stress defenses with his running ability. Probably not the guy you want trying to win the game for you in the 2 minute drill if you take away the ability to scramble.

Indeed. A lot of players have gone through sophomore slumps. It has to do with other teams adjusting and the young player trying to rely on insticts like he did the year before. The problem is that those instincs were on film and studied by the opposition. Hurts struggled bigly against teams with good
talent...and good coaching. I think he takes a big step forward this season and I don’t think its a given that Tua wins the starting job.

He's an efficient college QB, but he doesn't have an NFL arm. That said, I would take him for LSU in a heartbeat.

Both Clemson and Bama got to the playoffs with average qbs.

Disagree on average... I would say above average, but clearly not elite. Both benefit from a strong supporting cast.

2017 QBR Rating
7. Hurts
17. Bryant

And Fromm was number 6 on that list. Like the other two QBs, he benefitted from a superior supporting cast and a strong run game.

The guy lost his starting job because he can’t pass . He is an athlete not a QB.

Ok this has gone on long enough. Here are Jalen's numbers in what I would call the BIG games over his career:

2016
USC - 6/11 (55%) 118, 2/1
@LSU- 10/19 (53%) 107, 0/1
AU- 27/36 (75%) 286, 2/2
UF- 11/20 (55%), 138, 1/0
UW- 7/14 (50%), 57, 0/0
CU- 13/31 (42%), 131, 1/0

2017
FSU - 10/18 (56%) 96, 1/0
LSU - 11/24 (46%) 183, 1/0
@AU - 12/22 (55%) 112, 1/0
CU - 16/24 (67%) 120, 2/0
UGA - 3/8 (38%) 21, 0/0

Well, in only 2 of those games did he complete more than 56% of his passes. In only 1 did he throw for 200 yards. In only 3 did he throw more than a single TD pass.

Once again....nobody says jalen sucks, or isn't talented, or isn't a good football player. We're just saying he's limited as a passer. Tua showed in 1 half more passing chops than hurts has shown in 2 years.

His decision making and timing makes him a poor passing QB.
