How many of those are actually downfield?
I posted earlier his stats in big games, which were underwhelming. Let's see where he accumulated a lot of those career numbres.
Western KY- 287 yards, 67%
UK- 262, 61%
Arky- 253, 77%
MSU (the 6-7 version)- 347, 76%
AU (8-5 version)- 286, 75%
CSU- 248, 71%
Most his big stat-producing games are against tomato cans or "name" teams with poor records.

Disagree on average... I would say above average, but clearly not elite. Both benefit from a strong supporting cast.
2017 QBR Rating
7. Hurts
17. Bryant
And Fromm was number 6 on that list. Like the other two QBs, he benefitted from a superior supporting cast and a strong run game.
I meant average passers. Their passer ratings are average. They aren’t good at passing

Jalen arm talent-wise is average. Not good, not bad. Just middle of the pack. (I remember some of the early fanboys oohing and aahing over what a strong arm he had on his first TD against USC. I was thinking, "Really? He had to crow-hop to launch it that far.")
He is extremely limited mentally both pre-snap and post-snap. He has a horrible time recognizing defensive packages/formations. Against FSU this year -with a whole off-season of 1st team reps and game prep - how many times did the Noles walk a blitzer up on the edge and Jalen not make the adjustment? Then, once the ball was snapped, still not recognize heat was coming and react appropriately? One of the first rules of QB play for a blitz is to immediately look to throw to where the pressure came from. He rarely did that. If his lifeline Ridley wasn't open right away it was rabbit time.

Those struggles continued on Saturday in Alabama's A-Day game. Hurts went 19-for-37 for 195 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception. I'm not one to make a huge deal out of spring game stats, but the writing is on the wall at this point. Hurts is a good runner and game-manager, but he has still not developed as a passer.
Former offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin kept things rather simple during Hurts' freshman campaign in 2016, and Brian Daboll did the same in 2017. After all, the team was winning, and pulling the plug during a title run would be crazy.
But Nick Saban did pull the plug. At halftime. Of the biggest game of the year. What's more, he inserted a true freshman with very few meaningful snaps and trusted him to save the day.
Translation: He doesn't trust Hurts anymore, and Hurts did nothing to earn it back on Saturday.
He was erratic with his passes, was indecisive in the pocket and took too many sacks -- although sacks in spring games are rather hard to define when quarterbacks aren't "live." Third string quarterback Mac Jones, on the other hand, looked as sharp as a knife, completing 23-of-35 passes for 289 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He was so good that Saban was caught on a hot mic praising Jones while Hurts was running with the first-team offense.
"The third-team quarterback can move the team right down the field throwing the ball," he said in the background of the ESPN broadcast.
Hurts looked lost, the coaching staff lacks trust in him, his father Averion made things even more difficult this week by calling him one of the biggest free agents in college football history if he transfers and there's no sign of reversing what increasingly looks like a downward trend. To complicate matters even further, Tagovailoa's brother Taulia -- a four-star prospect in the class of 2019 -- committed to the Crimson Tide shortly before kickoff.
The dots aren't that difficult to connect. Tua Tagovailoa is Alabama's starting quarterback, as long as his hand injury doesn't linger into fall camp. Hurts is good enough to start somewhere, but his time at Alabama is coming to an end. At this point, it's a matter of when, not if.

He should really consider a position change cause he ain’t no QB

You are a terrible troll yet reeled in quite a few with this one.

He got a ton of passing yds on jet sweeps and short routes. Ridley turned a lot of short passes into big gainers.

Jalen would probably thrive in a Malzahn type system much like Nick Marshall. The thing is Saban wants a qb that can extend the offense with down field passing, keep the opposing defenses off balance with the running & passing. Constant 3 & outs on offense is not good for our defense. Trust me, opposing teams would much rather have Hurts as the starter as opposed to Tua or Mac. All the good D coordinators do now is have their defense build a fence & dare Jalen to pass the ball which we all know he's not gonna do if his primary read is covered.

I was there. Hurts looked beyond bad in person. He even looked off in the warm ups. Mack will be a solid back up this year.

Gotta admit he is slick on jet sweep passes

he's a very good backup QB..most teams would kill to have a decent backup

Jalen Hurts makes 2009 Greg McElroy look like Aaron Rodgers. Hell, 2016 Bama would have gone down as one of the greatest CFB teams of all-time with a Sims or Coker. That's how good they were yet Hurts somehow found a way to frick that up. He can't pass, is a vastly overrated runner and wouldn't be a starting QB on 75% of the Power 5 teams out there.

Marshall was deadly with the bombs downfield though. He was a threat with that at least. Defenses could rush 10 defenders and if that 1 guy in coverage is the same guy Jalen see's first, he's gonna probably take a sack or run out of bounds.

I think the biggest klutz on this board could catch a snap from center and flip it 3 feet.

"Bama has never had a qb as special as jalen"
Dude....c'mon....Seriously. I mean....seriously
He's not even gonna be the backup next season. Jones ability as a passer is much more advanced. Much much more.

Hurts just a glorified Brandon McIlwain tbh

Jalen has a great arm and he can pass it very well. He just has to think about where he's going to throw it for 30 seconds.
