Give it up. He wasn't hating. Just stating what everyone has, he hasn't shown anything to make anyone scared to play him. No defensive coordinator is going to lost sleep over Mett on a Friday night.

I think Georgia wins the battle at the LOS, and controls the game. Barring turnovers, I could see UGA winning by more than a TD.

I'll go with the team from the SEC....they'll win.

IMO we've both lost a ton of NFL talent on D but both teams have recruited very well and should be looking to reload rather than rebuild on that side of the ball.
I'd venture to say that LSU's special teams will be just as good as ours if not better. I know they have to replace Wing, but from what I understand from the LSU fans, there's another guy waiting in the wings.
With that said, I give us the edge and say we win by 7-10 points for four main reasons. First, our offense, specifically our QB play, is leaps and bounds better than LSU. This is the most fluid matchup in the game. Cam Cameron could turn Mett into one of the top 3-4 QBs in the league for all I know, but I highly doubt it. How the Hill situation plays out will also be interesting. Second, we essentially have two weeks off before the LSU game with an bye week followed by North Texas at home. Third, we will have played two teams better than LSU by the time they roll into town. On the other hand, we will be the best team LSU will have faced that far into the season and it will be the first true road game for a young, developing defense. Fourth, it will be between the hedges and Mett will shite his pants.
Overall, at least from this UGA fans perspective, I'd rank LSU as our 4th most difficult game this year behind Clemson, Carolina, and UF and I'd be disappointed if we lost. Just for kicks, I'll say the score ends up something like 24-17 or 31-20

FIFY. What do you think Saban and company thought before their trip to Death Valley? You better hope Mettenberger doesn't get his game together. I can't wait to taste UGA tears here if they're 2-2 or 1-3 after this game.

Yeah, South Carolina and Clemson were truly better than LSU last season. I know Clemson dominated LSU in the bowl game, but LSU dominated South Carolina last year before LSU had its offense together. LSU faced a lot of adversity last season, and I wouldn't expect the same things to occur this season. Please write off LSU, but I think you are seriously underestimating them if you think Clemson and South Carolina are better and will be tougher tests.

I hope LSU proves you wrong. What's the basis for thinking that LSU is below those 3 teams? LSU can settle the Florida argument on the field. LSU dominated South Carolina last season, and you're neglecting how many blows the LSU roster and team had suffered before the bowl game against Clemson. I'd hate to face a fresh, eager, LSU whose wanting to prove all the doubters wrong.

I wanna see how effective LSU's offense before making judgements. Right now I'd give the edge to UGA based on a more effective offense and home field. Too much inexperience on D for LSU and an unproven offense

Perhaps. Good post.
O/U the number of times Aaron Murray is picked off. Florida passed for more yards than Georgia, and that includes the 45 yard touchdown pass that Murray threw at the end of the game. I'm not buying any Georgia hype until they prove it on the field. They weren't a great team last year.

I'm basing it off what I think about all those teams THIS year, not LAST year. LSU has a new OC who doesn't have the benefit of a great QB and they replace a ton off defense.

UGA vs Top 25 teams in the Murray era
4-10 with an average score of 25-28
UGA vs Top 15 teams in the Murray era
1-8 with an average score of 23-35
UGA vs Top 10 teams in the Murray era
1-5 with an average score of 19-34
UGA vs Top 5 teams in the Murray era
1-4 with an average score of 21-33
But suddenly UGA is going to erupt and destroy LSU? Ha. Give me the Tigers.

Correct me if I'm wrong because I don't follow players or your team, but didn't LSU face a similar situation heading into 2011? However, you were ready for Oregon Game 1, and you handled your difficult schedule with ease in all games but 1.

I for one thought the LSU and UGA teams in 2011 were pretty close, just as I think these two teams are pretty close.
And a blowout later, frick my reasoning. LSU by 2 TDs as long as they have Miles.

Georgia. It won't even be a close game. 35-14ish range.

You won't find a single UGA fan in Athens who hates Zach Mettenberger. The kid was from Oconee County (pretty much West Athens), was a Dawg first, fricked up, got his shite together, and landed at LSU.
What is there to hate? Despite what Mett likes to think, nobody is going to boo him at Sanford Stadium unless he says something inflammatory prior to the game.

You do too, and your defense wasn't good last season. Todd Grantham hasn't put an elite defense on the field yet, but he'll prove his true value this season in the month of September. Can't wait.

That 1 top 10 win is versus Florida, and his performance wasn't that impressive in that game either. He threw 3 interceptions, and Florida passed for more yards despite the 45 yard 4th quarter touchdown pass. He struggled against Florida, and there's no way around that one.

Yep, it's jus I don't really don't know about the offense this year. Between the new coordinator, the Hill situation and Mett's ineffectiveness last year I jus haven't seen anything to inspire confidence. My heart says LSU... But my head says UGA wins in a close one

He struggled but we still won the game. Also played very well in the SECCG last December. It's easy to forget that if that pass isn't tipped and Mitchell catches the touchdown, Murray is a hero and his record vs ranked opponents is never brought up again. So it's not like he swallows his nuts in every big game. He struggled against a good Florida team and beat them and we beat 15th ranked Nebraska pretty handily.
LSU really doesn't scare me and we match up well against them. Like it's been mentioned before, the first two games will be huge in determining how we play against LSU. If we're 2-0, I don't see us losing.

No one else has questioned the mentality of your Bulldogs if you open up 0-2. I know I shouldn't use 2011 here, but it's all we've got. Georgia bounced back to win 10 straight over teams that finished the season unranked. You're fortunate that you didn't trip up against Florida.
This team will find itself in a different situation if it opens 0-2. You'll have to face two more legit, ranked opponents during the regular season. Recently, Georgia hasn't performed that well against highly ranked teams. Your team has as many question marks as LSU, so I wouldn't be confident in any predictions right now. I think predictions for the final score are better reserved after Week 2.
