LSU will have the best defense.
No doubt about that.
- Best athletes.
- Best coach.
- Best player.
- Most depth.
Florida’s will be good.
Auburn’s will be good.
Georgia’s will be solid.

I just meant that the cornerbacks would need to make major jumps to replace the production of Baker, not that Georgia as a whole would drop off and need to make a major jump to be at the same level as last year. More like a hop than a jump.

Not trolling just looking at their roster they would need some people to have major jumps from last’s year to replace the defensive production if those who have left,
Honestly, Baker was a stud.
But outside of him, we didn't lose that much production (which is a slight indictment of the pass rush production in 2019).
I'm less worried about pass rush and more hopeful that our speed rises at ILB so that we can combat those mobile QBs.

Because in my eyes based off of their performances last year, the people to replace Devin, (Divinity, Phillips, and even Queen) have already more than stepped up, so I’m not really relying on them to step up. Phillips even though he was in white’s shadow was already a top 10 or maybe top 5 linebacker in the SEC. Michael Divinity isn’t Dad behind and is a leader. When White was out Queen played against Alabama and was one of the few bright spots in that game, so it’s not that I’m relying on them to step up, I just feel that they already have. And yea we lost Greedy but Fulton was already better than him last year in a lot of LSU fans’ eyes so he also has already stepped up into that role.

I misunderstood, then...and I won't even try to argue that point with you. Tyson Campbell struggled mightily last year, and eventually lost his starting spot. He claims he has learned...we will see. Baker, like Roquan Smith is irreplaceable. Got to have a bit of a drop off there. No way around it.
I apologize for being so sensitive. I would love to say that it is that time of the month, but since I am a guy....well....
And, I am sincere when I say I think LSU will be huge on defense in the coming season. You always are. You may nto have seen me post this before, but I was born in Baton Rouge (Baton Rouge General) and grew up a LSU fan. I love the old LSU teams, in particular with Hilliard, Charles Alexander, Bert Jones, Tommy Casanova and yes, even going back to George Rice. he was a family friend. It was a long time ago, so if you are not familiar with Rice look him up. One of the all time greats.

My response was in regards to you listing 14 players names and then adding at the bottom - "there is a ton of talent that has gotten a LOT of PT/experience and is ready to step in and take on bigger roles." Do you remember posting that?
Fourteen names look a lot better than eight? Right? It really doesn't matter how many TrFr uga plays every year. Where do those SIX players that haven't played a down yet at uga fit into your remarks "talent that has gotten a LOT of PT/EXPERIENCE"?
Didn't see a single LSU poster claim Ika "got a lot of PT/EXPERIENCE " last year at LSU.
As for the LSU LBs as a group. They will be BETTER than the '18 unit, even with the loss of White. Going into '18 tigers had THREE LBs with starting experience. This year we have SEVEN and all LBs on the '18 roster are back and are another year stronger and wiser. That's minus DW40 the only LB we lost.

Dawgs Life—your one point is not a good one. It isn’t about who left. It is about who will play in 2019. You literally made the same point about Georgia, and yet can’t see it for LSU. That makes you a homer, to resurrect an old term.

Same as always. Bama
You know, if aggies weren't so stupid, they wouldn't be aggies.
State led the SEC in defense last year, not Bama. State ranked #1 in total defense, and #2 in scoring defense, nationally. Bama was #16 and #12 respectively.

Yes, I remember. And the other 10 guys on the list has gotten a ton of experience. I never said that all on the list has gotten experience. Sorry if I did not make myself clear.
quote:Actually it does. It is a testament at the high quality freshmen we bring in. It's not like they are having to take a long time to develop and we are losingwhile they do develop.

quote:Nope. They just said that he would be a reason your middle DLine play would be improved. I was merely poitning out that we had 10 players signed last year rated higher than Ika. isn't it understandable that they might help us improve, too?

Maybe LSU will have better luck than us.

I get it. We had a ton come back, too. Walker, Patrick, Rice....we all thought Rice was absolutely light it up.
quote:Pretty sure I was refuting some of the LSU posts by saying if you can make that argument, then we could, too.

My point? you don't lose a player the calber of White and not miss a beat. We lost a beat without Roquan and I think you will without White. I don't know. neither do y'all. We all have the feels, though. We feel like.....
A homer? really? of course I am a homer! You aren't?

FWIW, there is a thread about the top Offense, defense and overall team in the country. They had LSU #1 in defense.

LSU will have a better defense than uga.

There are several ways to look at returning production, but the simplest is percentage of returning tackles. I threw out 2018 tackles by offensive players, and got similar returning numbers for UGA and LSU; 71.6% and 70.6% respectively.
Of their top 15 tacklers, LSU replaces White, Battle, Williams, Alexander and Alexander. UGA has to replace Ledbetter, Taylor, Walker, Patrick and Baker. Both teams have replacements that should be fine to fill those spots.
As for replacing their biggest loss, LSU has several very good LB competing for White's spot, looks like Queen or Divinity have the lead I guess? To replace Baker's coverage skill, UGA has Stokes slated to step in at one corner, who may turn out to be a better cover corner but not as physical yet. Campbell, Daniel, maybe Poole will compete for the other starting CB spot.
Both should be very good defenses, as they were last year. Which ends up being better depends on injuries, newcomers, intangibles, schedule, etc. UGA does have a new DC, so that's a question mark.

They’ve stepped up? You’re expecting no drop off from losing possibly the best lb last year. That guy will be tough to replace because he was the human eraser like Roquan was for us.
And if Fulton was better why didn’t he start?

The weirdest thing too is that a Georgia fan, of all fans, should have a pretty good idea who Kristian Fulton is.
