Take the playoff games out of the equation and also factor SEC OOC schedule. Bama’s best regular season win was against MSU, and everyone knows how good they were.

I kind of expect this to happen. Shite like this would be so aubie. Lose to wazzu and beat Georgia or something like that. They lost to Clemson and Lsu last year but beat uga and Bama. How the Hell???

Hmmm a meaningless bowl game against UCF? Compared to a meaningful opener against Washington ?? I see no comparison.

The state of Alabama shows they don’t care after having powerful season only to be sent to a bowl game. I mean let’s see

Alabama vs Utah
Alabama vs Oklahoma
Auburn vs Ucf
Auburn vs Oklahoma

All good seasons with bowl losses. Why?
Because nobody cared.

You might have a point. They had Bama beat and then choked it away.

Like I have said before, give Saban 6 weeks to prepare and he could make Ole Miss competitive in the playoffs.

Before Georgia Southern, some semi-respectable teams. Nothing truly challenging though.

Does either team have a significant advantage in returning starters/major contributors from last season? I honestly don’t know but that’s something I would look at heavily in any closely matched opening game. If Washington has a significant advantage in retrners, plus The Peterson factor, they could win. We’ve been there and done that in 2011 albeit that Georgia team was not very good (the final 10-4 record was mostly “smoke & mirrors”)

Washington returns 70% of their Offensive Production and 81% of their Defensive Production ranking #22 overall. Auburn returns 78% OP and 61%DP ranking #47 overall.

No one should ever be shocked when Auburn loses, and no one should ever be shocked when Auburn wins, as it is impossible to tell what Auburn is going to do.

I don’t see it. Auburn is super talented and it will be a heavy AU crowd. Gus could screw it up if course.

Washington beat two Pac 12 Teams with winning records last year, and one of those teams was 7-6. They had Bama’s schedule without Auburn.
You just have trouble getting it right regarding Alabama. Your envy has blinded you I guess.

While Wash beat 2 (actually 3 PAC12, and 4 overall) PAC12 teams with winning records.

Bama won 5 games vs ranked teams and beat 8 teams with winning records, including #3 FSU, then #1 Clemson and #2 UGA in back to back weeks at neutral sites, with all on the line (y'all went bananas over 2 such wins over 3 weeks at home just for a spot in the SECC game). Even you have to admit it was a nice run.

What was Bama’s most impressive regular season win last year?
But the playoffs are when it matters the most and where you play the best opponents. The regular season is just a prelude to the playoffs - the playoffs are what college football is all about now. That's when the Tide shines. In meaningful post season games since 09, Saban's first Bama NC, Bama is 13-2. 5-0 in SECC games and 8-2 in BCS and CFP games. That's what people remember, that's when the men stand up. Come on get with it AU fans. You're 3-2 during that span. It's the greatest run in your history, you've never had it so good. Never mind that you're 3-7 vs Bama, LSU and 3-8 vs UGA in the last 10 years, you have had success in the post season. Not the same as 13-2, but 3-2 is not bad, better than most. 2-1 SECC, 1-1 in BCS, 0-0 CFP. Congratulations.
