Who is the true flagship university in Mississippi?

I've always thought it was Ole Miss, but they sure have made fools of themselves lately.

As far as football goes the honor now belongs to State.

If it's based on the school with the best academics and Athletics, then the choice is obvious

We are the flagship but State is very popular within the state and probably pretty much even as far as alumni support.
And no, they have not passed us. Not sure what they would have passed us in?

This is correct. Statistically, We've been ahead of them in Athletics for our entire history and the academics of OM are nowhere near considered at States level among any national perspective.

State is waaaay more popular in the State, and we have way more alumni.
