Dumbest post ever. I think everyone here knows how much I hate Ole Miss but for once I am forced to defend a former Ole Miss player. People rip Archie because of his years with the Saints but those same people are clueless as to what he had to work with. A TERRIBLE OL for one, he had to make plays on his own always running for his damn life.

The uneducated football fan drives me bonkers.

Also, me being a Saints fan I know their history and because they had such loyal fans who showed up year after year without ever seeing a winning season, it was all about the money and no desire to actually build a real team. Terrible ownership etc.

It was Jim Mora who came over from the USFL after Tom Benson bought the team and hired Jim Finks as GM that the Saints not only won their division but did so at the 49’s best years. (They were in same division).

Jim Finks died soon after and Mora got a bad draw. I know people will rip me for mentioning Jim Mora SR but he gave the Saints their best years.

Bear Bryant said that Archie Manning was best college quarterback he had seen after Archie set an SEC record for total yards against Bama that stood for over 40 years. So, OP try again.

Archie Manning was a beast. It just sucks that he played for terrible teams in the NFL.

danny wuerffel, noodle armed system guy. Love him, but he lacked the talent of the other guys mentioned.

Wuerffel was as good and accurate as any SEC QB I've ever seen.

Far from a "system" QB

Wasn't every Auburn QB since like 2013 suppose to win the Heisman?

Aww, ain't he cute with his Archie love.

Newsflash: coaches say shite. Nick Saban said the Citadel was a tough challenge.

Archie Manning once broke a huddle and reached under the guard's arse to take the snap. He was no rocket scientist. He was a good college QB, but not nearly as good as his legendary status dictates.

My dad was an Lsu fan but was very much a fan of all 3 Mississippi schools because we lived in Mississippi and he just flat out loved football. Biggest Saints fan too.

He crunched numbers for a living and his hobby of passion was football. Kept notebooks and I do mean notebooks, like 35 of them keeping stats of players. Growing up as a kid, he could tell me who the next great players were and hoped the Saints got one.

Many years later he introduced me to the manning family. (Archie was before my time) but my dad had those old reels of Archie at Ole Miss. i wish I could ask him now but he recently passed away. Anyway, the Mannings were a class act.

My dad forgot more about football than I’ll probably ever know but he was a HUGE Archie fan even though he pulled for LSU. He used to tell me stories about Archie and how great he was. That’s enough for me and I have seen tons of footage of Archie since. The guy was a freak of nature but played for bad teams.

There is a reason Archie is an SEC legend. He earned it.
