yeah Les and Saban have squirrel thoughts too I guess, but over time they seem to win more close ones the most SEC

Only other time I questioned Saban at Bama was throwing the ball at the goal line against A and M in 2012. Run it in.

I'd like to remind everyone that this was the play called with 9 seconds left and 3rd down. This abomination. Someone actually called it.

I actually think it's Saban. He tends to overthink situations instead of just going with his gut feeling.

What's his record in national championship games?

no, if 7 pts was looked at probably would be similar.
That's pretty presumptuous of you.

Just looking at Malzahn during his time at Auburn, he's 8-3 (73% win) in games of 7 or less and 0-3 in games of 3 or less.

Quite a big difference, huh?

Most using clutch here to mean championship coaches I think, not winning when outcome is in doubt
Then why did you post the 3 point percentages?

we didn't define clutch did we. I picked close games.
True clutch coaching I remember is that hook and ladder the Boise coach ran a few years back.

you defined your stance on the subject OP by limiting it to a 3 point win/loss

if clutch is winning close 3pt or less games
So stop trying to deflect this into what the definition of clutch is.

You picked 3 point wins/losses.

Or are you telling me the 2013 UGA/Auburn, Bama/Auburn, MSU/Auburn, TAMU/Auburn, 2014 KSU/Auburn, Ole Miss/Auburn games weren't close games?

haha, feast or famine there. My point is someone like Bill Snyder, never with an elite team, wins tons of close games.
The SEC owns championships so any coach comparison has to be championships only, everyone else leave the room

I have to go with Saban on this one believe it or not. I consider the term least clutch to mean biggest drop off in coaching performance in big games compared to their coaching performance against lesser opponents. I don't consider Mark Richt an "unclutch" coach because his coaching against lesser opponents is usually pretty mediocre as well. Meanwhile, Saban is virtually unbeatable against unranked opponents but has shite the bed and coached like crap many times in big games (2010 LSU, 2010 Auburn, 2011 LSU regular season, 2013 Iron Bowl, Sugar Bowl against Oklahoma, Ohio State).

A good 4th quarter D that forces turnovers will do that for you.

Not the d, more like the running game eventually wearing down the opposing d.

He's won a couple SEC titles, finished in the top 3 nationally a few times, averages 10 wins a year over his career, and averages winning the division about every 3 years.

What's pinkel done in that same time frame?

Pinkel leads all SEC coaches in career DUIs.

Right now it has to be Les. Too much talent to not be a contender. Richt = Spurrier.

Didn't really follow Wisky when Bert was there, but so far in the SEC, Bert has lost every close game. I realize sample size is small but he was 0-5 last year and the loss in 13 to LSU was close and maybe with others as well.

I was wondering if Bert's name would come up.

I didn't follow him at Wisconsin either, but he does seem to have a flair for the "look at me" coaching moves that can come back to bite you in big games.

I dont think Pinkel has the talent that UGA has, plus they have been winning the division recently, while our teams have been un clutch. UGA hasn't done shite since 2005, thats a decade. What clutch thing has UGA or Richt done in the past 10 years? Beat an over rated and over hyped Hawaii team?
