Won a natty in baseball, final four in football, mens and womens Sweet 16, one national champion in track and field (high jump), back to back rifle national champion, soccer and mens tennis sweet 16, national champion in golf, fundraising at an all time high. He's been in the job since 2019.
So, no, not to early for the skepticism to be settled.

Going by Directors Cup standings, Texas has been the winner and it's usually them or Stanford at the top, but for "revenue sports" doing the heavy lifting we all would probably give that to Texas.
LINK
But SEC has plenty of top ADs as the list shows. Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Texas A&M.
In the last 10 years, Texas A&M misplayed the baseball coach position by letting a proven coach go to Austin and then only manage to get his hitting coach as the backfill.
And worse, letting a championship winning women's basketball coach stay on for far too long past his prime, frustrating his protege and A&M alum who eventually ended up at Austin, while A&M AD allowed Gary Blair to write his own retirement date, then hired a showy coach who has promptly shoved the program in the gutter and is not recognizable anymore from what Gary Blair built.

Look at athletic revenue per school and rank the respective AD. That will probably be a close approximation.

Then you'd only be measuring a program's input, not its output.
If revenue is your thing, at least measure revenue growth over time. If an AD at a smaller school has managed to raise revenue during his tenure then fine.
Better yet, if that increased revenue led to more winning and a demonstrably bigger profile for their university, that's where the AD earns his keep.
Practically anybody can keep a preexisting large ship floating. Perhaps that's why the Directors Cup leaderboard is the way it is.

I'm not sure that a University cares as much about a championship as the fans. If you offered a University president $300,000,000 in revenue or a national championship ring, I think they take the money every time. That's why I said "approximate". You can run 50 million valuations on this stuff.

I see KC was the "in the family" hire you meant. And I agree, he's been really good and brought OM to greater than ever heights.

Overall...it is very easily Florida..we literally have finished top ten in college athletics in overall ranking for 40+ years.
Florida is the only program to finish among the nation's top 10 in each of the last 40 national all-sports standings.
Florida, Stanford, Michigan, UCLA, Texas are usually considered the top 5 athletic programs
Florida has 270 SEC titles
Second is Texas

He didn’t hire the baseball coach that won the NC.
Nobody knows how your football program will be once Lanes guys are gone on offense.
Your basketball team had a losing record last year and looks to be just as bad this year

Sorry bout that.
You're right about Pete--still a little early to tell, but looks good so far.

It's true that he didn't hire Bianco, but it's also true that he didn't extend Bianco when Bianco wasn't performing. Previous Ole Miss AD's would have without batting an eye.
No one knows how any team is going to be from year to year anymore, given that everyone essentially has a new team every year. However, so far so good. KC's keeping the money flowing, so we've go that going.
I do wonder about basketball long term. Beard is a top shelf coach, and KC took some heat to hire him. KC is also a basketball guy. However, Ole Miss doesn't aspire to win national titles in basketball like Arkansas does (it'd be nice, but pretty doubtful regardless of this year's team). It'll be interesting to see what we do with basketball NIL. Football pays the freight, so I could see us financing at the "we want to make the tourney" level but not at the "we want to be a serious threat in the tourney" level.

No. He just kept our very elite athletic program..elite. Still the only school in the South to have Natties in Football, Basketbal, and Baseball.
We have fricking 270 SEC Championships..270
LSU has..49
Not even 1/4th.
Very simple. You are not comparable. Texas is though.

Thats to be determined. Our old AD Castiglione just retired this past spring and had a ton of success. He was actually who hired Bob Stoops and many others. Many great programs under his tenure. New AD will need to wait and see.

Measuring the output would be the total achievement of ALL the athletics within the Athletics Department., thus the origin of the Directors Cup. Sure, some posters as schools only care about a few major sports, that's what they can afford. Larger budget input means a school can "care" about more than just a few major sports. This is exactly why Texas has won multiple Directors Cups recently. The money input allows more sports output.

I don't know who the best is, but LSU and Aggy have a suggestion for the worst ever

He didn’t let Vitello walk. Anyone that was offered the same job he was would do the same exact thing. The fact that he made history in the MLB before the season even started, would be to much for any coach not to take the opportunity
