Is it Franks or somebody else? If Florida can compete at the QB position, they will challenge Georgia for the East. Florida's WR, Cleveland, is the best receiver in the conference. The question is whether anyone can get him the ball.

The freshman. His name escapes me at the moment.

Mullen has a honeymoon year and he’ll take the opportunity to develop the more talented young guy, just like Kirby did with Eason.

Probably Franks, until it’s not.

That’s debatable.

You're talking about Emory Jones I would guess. Unlikely that he's starting early in the season. He might take over if the season gets off the rails though or if they have an injury. He's very likely too raw for starting time in year one. If he manages to start early and have success, it means Mullen is ahead of the curve big time.

No, it is false.

AJ Brown is the best WR in the SEC. And, possibly best all around athlete.

At this point I'd say it's between Trask and Jones.

I think the biggest problem with Franks (even if this is a little controversial) is that he's probably damaged goods.

If he's not clearly better than a True Freshman or a guy who hasn't statred in six years, then I say we just roll with whcihever of them doesn't turn the ball over and makes solid decisions.

Franks probably takes the first snap, but is soon replaced by Kyle Trask.

Emory Jones gets plenty of snaps, and possibly takes over late in the season.

I disagree with Straws and we have hashed this over on the Gator board...Mullen will probably start Franks who started games and has experience, rather than two others who never taken a snap in college football before...if Franks falters...then you will see a change.

Franks is going to benefit from a different scheme and better play calls than last year...he was not ready in 2017.

He might surprise folks...Mullen will use shorter passes, screens and a strong run game to protect him.

If Trask wins the starting nod or even if Franks does, Jones will see playing time slowly to develop.

# 89 Cleveland is a big play WR, burnt LSU for 99 yds in 2016 and UT for 67 as time expired last year to win the game. Is really tough to tackle. He will need to develop as a short range WR this year to increase his presense. Our entire WR corp suffered from lack of coaching the past several years.....but not this year.

Franks will Start, Emory will play. Trask doesn’t fit Mullen’s scheme no matter how much he tries to convince you he builds the offense around a QB’s strengths, he wants a mobile guy.

I know...His recruitment came down to UF and Arkansas. It was Bert's biggest recruiting loss

You and Reel make me laugh with this Franks pumping and how Trask doesn't fit his offense.

Just on size wise:

238, 6'2''
233, 6'3''
227, 6'5''
238, 6'5''
230, 6'5''

Tell me which is Dak Prescott, Nick Fitzgerald, Tim Tebow, Feleipe Franks (added) and Kyle Trask.

He is exactly the height, weight, running speed and style for a Mullen power-spread.

I don’t think anyone knows . Most seem to think Franks will start the year . Franks is not a great fit for Mullen’s offense but hopefully Mullen is smart enough to use his talents. Franks is not very shifty but he has good speed if he runs straight. He also seems to be good with the deep ball .

running speed

Woah how do you figure? He’s had two spring games where he couldn’t be touched. He didn’t play in high school because he didn’t fit the teams spread system. All of a sudden he fits the spread? Then why didn’t he beat out the kid that went to Houston in high school? I’m confused.

Different type of spread.

Mullen is not your traditional scat-back type of spread offense. He's the Full-back type of spread. His QBs are heavy and somewhat athletic. King (from the same HS) was a scat-back and Trask was not.

There is a single video (since Trask didn't play that much due to the offense he was playing in) of a 21 yard run by Trask by simply going up the middle, that is Mullen's spread.

Again, look at their sizes and tell me which is Trask. Franks is the lightest and tallest out of all of them, which is a literal non-fit.

I can’t help but think this is seeing what you want to see, but okay I guess we will find out.

I gave you the sizes of previous Mullen QBs.

His average is 6'4 ~235 pounds. Trask is 6'5'' 238 - 243 pounds (depending on who you ask these days). D'eriq King is 5'10'' 190 pounds and the coach at his HS wanted to run a faster type of of quarterback for his offense, that's it.

This is one of the few objective things to be found in football -- this isn't seeing what I want to see, it's literally the numbers. If those go against what you think Mullen's offense is, it's not my problem.

Until otherwise proven, Franks is the most experienced and most respected in the locker room. Emory Jones will take over after Feleipe loses us a few SEC games.
