This is one of the few objective things to be found in football -- this isn't seeing what I want to see, it's literally the numbers. If those go against what you think Mullen's offense is, it's not my problem
You don’t think King started because he was simply better than Trask? How can we possibly assume he didn’t play because his coach wanted a faster type of QB? Maybe he wasn’t good enough to force his coaches hand at tweaking his spread for him. Trask is here because Mac thought he was smarter than everyone else, because no other school with a pulse offered him. Do you think Mac was smarter than everyone else?

His coach literally said it.
quote:
“One day they’ll do a ’30 for 30' on Kyle Trask and talk about what a dumb butt his high school coach was for not starting him,” Martin said. “I’ll be the guy that cut Michael Jordan. I can own that. But I’m telling you, that’s how good this kid can be.” “Everybody talks about Kyle being a backup, I never viewed him that way,” Martin said. “D’Eriq was just so electric with the ball in his hands that it was hard to take him out. We run a wide-open spread offense with a lot of zone reads and quarterback runs that Kyle couldn’t do. “He’s truly a pro-style quarterback. He can run now, but he’s not a 4.4 guy like D’Eriq. He’s one of the fastest track athletes in Texas. So he was just best for what we do.”
