Where have I heard that before?

Two of those are going to be unpleasantly surprised by no improvement.

Even if Peveto were DC, LSU would have a better defense than AU or aTm in 2015.

Gee, that's such a hard decision. Let's see; how about going with LSU was better this year and should be much improved with all the young talent that played this season becoming grown ups. Yeah, we'll go with that. Defensive schemes don't make great defenses without great talent.

2014 SEC rankings
LSU - 1
Auburn - 9
A&M - 12
A&M does not need to get to 1,2, 3, 4 or 5. Getting to even just 6th in the SEC is a major improvement for us. We ought to be able to score points so I will take a 6 or 7 for the defense next year. Gladly.
The real question is what happens if the LSU D slips to 3 or 4? Didn't do jack shite with the 1 this year. If you guys stay at the top on defense it might not help. OFFENSE was your problem. If your D slides at all, the OFFENSIVE problems are even more exaggerated.
Ags made a major upgrade at DC as did Auburn. LSU had no real upgrade to make on defense.

Ha jokes on you our offense is always that bad. Therefore our offense can't wilt. :doublebird:

Agreed. The biggest defensive debacle under Les Miles occurred in 2008. That defense was ranked 32nd nationally, which isn't god awful.

A&M's defense will be the greatest defense in SEC history. They have Chavis now. Amiright???

Of which there is now one less in the SEC thanks to our offseason moves.
Edit: You said good not great. Great works, not good.

LSU
Auburn
Texas A&M
I do think both Auburn and Texas A&M are much improved though. The Aggies have recruited well at defensive back and defensive line over the past couple of seasons. I do wonder about their linebackers (aggies fill in the gaps please), but overall they were going to make a step up. Chavis should match their offense well too. Give up more yards and points than he did at LSU, but his defenses are typically good at making touchdown drives turn into FG drives. Bending and not breaking style of defense will serve the Aggies well.
Auburn too should see improvement over a group I thought underperformed this past season. They undoubtedly have the talent there for Muschamp to make an instant impact. I expect them to be stout by the later part of the season.
LSU is LSU. I don't think the defense takes much of a step back. Perhaps the best defensive backs in the country. A defensive line that was slowly coming into its own at the end of the year. Better be another strong year for Miles sake. No QB development and the defense is questionable after the Steele hire...could get ugly in the Red Stick. I doubt it though.

We've played plenty of good defenses. Between Chavis and LSU's team speed, those were just bad matchups for us.
