I remember this time almost last year (or once all the A&M players were coming back) how A&M looked like a lock for a CWS, and missed the whole tournament.
Baseball has a funny way of being pretty damn variable. You can have what seems like all the right pieces in place and somehow suck (well, suck for an SEC team at least), or have a great season and get bounced in the regional round still (ouch, Vandy; Texas).
Part of what makes baseball so interesting to me. Anything from regional exit to CWS once again wouldnt surprise me with LSU right now. With the portal and general variability of baseball, you just never really know till you get through the season these days.
South Carolina, MSU and UGA are portaling in almost entirely new teams

We'll probably be really good in hitting, but not enough pitching to go the distance - based on previous seasons more so than an evaluation of incoming talent.
Hope I'm wrong though.

Tennessee got wrecked by the draft. Think they'll have a pretty significant rebuild this year.
Top 4 in the SEC preseason will be some combination of LSU/Arkansas/State/Texas, can almost guarantee that one.
Next tier is Vandy, Tennessee, Florida
TAMU, Auburn, Ole Miss, UK, Bama, OK will all probably get preseason 'votes'. Maybe UGA, but they lost a lot.

I wouldnt say wrecked at all, they had 9 PG Top 100 overall commits, 3 got drafted in rd. 1 and 2 more got drafted at the end of the draft and would assume will not sign which means they could be bringing in 6 Top 100 commits which is as good as anyone in the SEC. Will have to wait out the rd. 18-19 guys some still but thats a top class in the SEC after the draft it appears.
If you go out to Top 200 add another 3 more for 9 total Top 200 guys should be making it to campus.
LSU 5 potentially 6 Top 100; 8-9 Top 200
Texas 4 potentially 5 Top 100; 8-10 Top 200
MSU 2 potentially 3 Top 100 6-7 Top 200
Ark 2 potentially 3 Top 100; 5-6 Top 200
A&M 2 potentially 3 Top 100; 3-5 Top 200
Bama 1 potentially 3 Top 100; 3-5 Top 200
AU 1 potentially 2 Top 100; 4-5 Top 200
Vandy 1 potentially 2 Top 100; 3-4 Top 200
UGA 1 potentially 2 Top 100; 2-3 Top 200
OU 1 Top 100; 1-2 Top 200
Kentucky 1 Top 100, 1 total Top 200
Florida a bit surprising with 0 Top 100, 3 Top 200
Ole Miss the same as UF, 0 Top 100, 3 top 200
South Carolina and Missouri 0 Top 200
Tennessee, Texas and LSU seem to have a clear cut best classes in the conference. South Carolina with the worst closely followed by Missouri. Ole Miss, Florida, OU and UK with not particularly good classes but a very clear step up from South Carolina and Missouri.

State should be back to the level they were 2019-2021. I expect them to contend for a Top 8 seed at a minimum. Should be loaded at the plate. Their ceiling will depend on pitching where there’s a lot of freshman and sophomore talent. Valincius was Virginia’s Friday starter last year, he probably has the same role at State. The rest of that rotation and bullpen will require some guys taking steps forward.
The draft overall was a success for State but if they took some hits it was with some older pitchers that got drafted on Day 2.

All of whom missed the NCAA tournament in 2025. Mighttt want to pump the brakes.
MSU didn’t bring over the whole team. Some of the good players on that team are melding onto a team that did make the tourney. And we have added some key needs and a dynamite HS pitcher.

Returning the Friday night ace is always a plus!

Last I saw Ke tucky has the #4 rated transfer portal class, so we should be much improved.

LSU will be elite So will Arkansas Texas going to be at the top or near top
Tennessee is going to be up there
Don't know enough about MSU
Don't know enough about Auburn either
Count on the same 4.
Arky just had like 14 players drafted. That’s a lot to overcome.
Tenn lost pretty much all of their pitchers. They better hit the portal pretty hard.

Some near guarantees every year:
Florida will be in shambles in March only to be the most dangerous team the last 3 weeks
Arkansas will finish at least top 3 in the conference and earn a national seed
Texas will lose to Texas state in Austin and beat them in San Marcos
