When coach said, "Michael, we want you to get lots of sacks," he took it just a little too literally.

I might watch it eventually. I just feel like his story was already bludgeoned into the American consciousness over the last couple of years.

I'm sure there are several other compelling Mizzou stories that could have been told before Sam's was again.

I'm with you on that one. Thought USC was ready to step up to the big leagues and have not thought well of Stanford in three or four years. Clearly USC still prone to falling on their face no matter how talented they are.

Too bad. If you watch that documentary, you really want him to succeed.

The Michael Sam story: "Football player is openly gay at the best time in history to be gay in America. Receives universal praise for courage."

It is not just about Sam but also LaDamian Washington and Marvin Foster. Sad there are so many people who are so afraid of "the Gay" pm this site. Dude and LWash have really great back stories.

Are farts that smell like semen better than regular farts?

It was pretty good. Seems like Sam took a shot at coach Stec with his comments about what Mason told him. I agree that Stec did a horrible job that game but you'd think Sam wouldn't throw him under the bus like that.

I didn't watch it, and I wouldn't want to watch it if it dealt with sexuality. I don't have a problem with gays. Just keep it in your own bedroom. I would say the same thing to a straight guy. I am not big on public displays of affection from anyone

It has nothing to do with his sexual preferences. It's the fact that such a nothing athlete gets this much attention.

He sucks, literally and figuratively, and yet he's treated like a rock star just because "he's so courageous"

There's been hundreds of football players who were gay, you never hear about them, but Michael Sam is a gay man who happens to have played football, so he's a hero.

He's not a hero, he's a joke.

This thread is misleading. The show was about the 2013 Mizzou football team and specifically how 3 different players from different backgrounds ended up helping to unite and lead the team in different ways.

The stories of Marvin Foster and Ladamian Washington are just as important as Michael Sam. It isn't an hour long Sam fluff piece.

FWIW i think all the "courageous" backstory fluff pieces are annoying. Especially the gameday ones where they start to play the slow, sweet music and then the dramatic pause about how the player formed a friendship with this kid or whatever the generic story line is that week. shite is totally formulaic and stupid and i just want to watch some sports not get life lessons.

It was a good doc, just like all of the SEc stories films.

I get people are tired of Sam. I wasn't happy when they announced the show. I didn't want an hour long show about How Sam is gay, but that's not what it was.

If you don't know L'Damian's backstory, then it's worth a watch. Dude overcame a lot.

That championship game still stings though.

I think a lot of these guys on here are just butt hurt because a gay guy ran over their Offensive Line to sack their QB through out that season. It makes them question their masculinity.

Hell, Sam even scored a TD on Jawga.

It was a good doc.

Careful with your wording. Lots of jokes could be made there.
