Because your question doesn’t control for a variable that makes it different. Les truly did inherit his team from Saban. Pete had to work to retain his team. Your question removes his effort from the equation.
Lane had to recruit 40+ players from the portal in order to have this team he has this year. Is this Lane’s team or Brian Kelly’s? You’d probably say Lane due to his effort in recruiting the kids to the program. Pete had to do the same thing, they just happened to be on the roster.

Uhh, you may wanna check some of posts. I’m on record as saying I didn’t want LSU to hire Lane Kiffin. I still don’t believe he’s the person LSU needs.
That said, my post has zero to do with any love or support for Lane Kiffin.
As an LSU fan, we had to listen to this question poised about Les for years.

Yes it does. You’re calling Ole Miss “Lane’s team” when they had the opportunity to join Lane’s real team and didn’t. You’re not giving Pete credit for his retention of the roster when you see, across college football, massive roster turnover when the coach leaves. And that doesn’t even take into account losing almost our entire receiving corps to the NFL, key losses on the line, and the loss of a few defensive pieces that went to LSU. Your deflection is disingenuous.

Pete Chizik has benefitted more. Qb is the hardest position to find. Les would have a couple more if he had Chambliss. So yea, I'm going with Pete Chizik.
