I was Old Row. The parties are private for a reason, too much liability and risk involved.

That is hilarious. Lying racist bastards got their frat shut down for nothing. Those dudes were caught up in a drunken stupor though,,, I bet they could have sung about sodomizing their cat without flinching.

I'm being cynical here, but would this even be a big deal to most schools that don't have major athletics.

Define "major". I think it would be a pretty big deal at any Ivy League school, for example.

The problem at A&M was they allowed anybody to speak in their facilities. And the administration initially spoke up for First Amendment rights, which made no sense to me. The rule has been changed such that a speaker has to be sponsored by some university-recognized organization. Which won't help if A&M has a local white power club recognized by the school, but I don't see that happening.

What were the anti-semitic messages? It seems the bar is very low for that qualification. I have no issue with a white student union. Is it necessary? Not in my opinion. But they have the right, just as anyone else to start it. Am I to be up in arms about the student unions of other cultures/races?

White student union, no. Mostly white student union.
Rich non whites will be allowed to fill out an app. But to be asked to join they must be from rich parents who gave them a Gold Card to use. And female. And damn good looking. And love to take it up the butt.

Seriously though, I hope a lot has changed at Auburn since I graduated 20 years ago. I only remember one fraternity with a minority member back then.

Auburn University has the right to refuse access for any facility on their campus. They can use their own discretion and refuse rental payments from any individual or organization rendering the premises unavailable.

Who the hell gave Richard Spencer access to AU to spread his hatred?

I personally know the person who has to take the call from this arse clown and give them access to the University. I've heard this person bitching about having to give this guy access but as long as the party is using the access to school property within the guidelines you can not deny them access based upon race, gender, religion, or political affiliation. Just like the baker who can't refuse to make a gay wedding cake because that doesn't align with their beliefs the University can't deny Spencer the right to rent their property because his beliefs do not align with the University's. You can't have one without the other.

Yeah, I just don't care. I won't pretend to be enraged, I know it's en vogue to be at the moment.

People who define themselves solely by the color of their skin, regardless of the hue, are assholes. Similarly, people who think they are owed something solely because of their skin color, regardless of hue, are assholes. Assholes like this group congregate and commiserate with one another just like assholes from other groups. It is what it is.

The University strongly disavowed them and distanced themselves from any association whatsoever. That's all you can do.

You understand what that means right and why restricting it to student group sponsors is a bad idea right? This allow the university de facto control over who gets to speak because they can just disallow any group that they disagree with from being an official organization.

The fact that people actually think it's a good idea to ban any kind of speech from a university is mind-boggling to me. It's a public university and therefore the university cannot legally keep people from speaking provided they are not breaking the law or trying to incite violence. For instance, calling for the deaths of groups of people would be ban worthy, but saying you are an advocate for your race is not.

By calling for speech to be banned, you are inadvertently invoking the Streisand Effect wherein the more outcry there is for something to be banned, the more attention is drawn to it.

No, I really don't. Texas A&M isn't city hall. Why should A&M allow everybody access to their facilities to spew their nonsense?

What's your feeling about A&M students turning out in massive numbers to block the Westboro Baptist Church from protesting a funeral? Westboro Baptist Church surely has the same 1st Amendment rights as Spencer, right?

The worst part about this group is it is finally a group that the SJW can oppose on campus. Meaning it will certainly embolden them. Hope your admin is smarter than ours. You will soon find out.

Yep, I think any "union" based on skin color is dumb. It helps nothing. The goal is to be united. We shouldn't feel like we have to separate ourselves from one another based off skin pigmentation. It's a dumb concept, but it appears it's the world we live in at the moment. With that said, I'm not going to be outraged over one group doing it while others do the same exact thing. They can all be counterproductive together.
