"On the other hand, while Sankey is thinking of expansion, some schools have threatened to leave the SEC. He even noted recently that several member schools are looking to leave the SEC and operate as an independent entity not affiliated with the NCAA"

I believe it. I’m sure the big brands always make sure the sec knows their place.

This sounds to me like “the reason” that will be used for the entire SEC to leave the NCAA one day, maybe sooner than later..

Something like this..

“If Teams A, B, C, D & E leave, what will we do next? In order to stay competitive, we all need to leave together..”

Lol, try it and you'll learn the same lesson that GA Tech learned when they were king shite a few decades ago. You have one bad season and you'll fade into nothingness. A conference gives you staying power and marketability in years when you aren't marketable.

Pretty sure Texas is one. Alabama another. Probably Georgia as well. LSU thinks enough of itself they probably threatened it as well.

What it also could mean is 32 teams across CFB are all going to leave and form a new division and set it up like the NFL..

Or something like that.. I hope that doesn’t happen, but I could see it happening..

That's a really sloppy written article. For instance, he talks about the SEC going from 12 teams to 16. What he should have said was the SEC is advocating the CFP go from 12 to 16 teams. The schools threatening to leave aren't wanting to leave the SEC, they want the SEC to leave the NCAA. This is just a bad journalist.

I don’t believe anyone’s going to go through with it but I 100% believe they say it to frick with Sankey.

This has been coming for a long time. Sankey is using the "some schools" rhetoric to test the waters.

Alabama another.

I doubt that.

Now could they be suggesting the entire SEC break off? Maybe.

But leave the SEC and go independent? Absolutely not.
