The 11 Bama team.

People only love the 01 Canes team SO much because of hindsight and what those players became. If the 2011 team at the time of the title game had a time machine and went back and played the 01 Canes team, we win that game.

They were certainly one of the best of the 1-loss teams and loaded with good players on both sides of the ball.

Just not sure how well they'd match up with that Miami team that was just as fast with more NFL talent.

That was totally unexpected.

No one is scoring 44 points on that AU defense. They gave up 11.3 ppg. They're up there with 11 Bama and LSU

No shite. I put 2004 AU up against any SEC team of the last 10 years.

Which team of the SEC run would fare best against the 2001 Canes

2012 BAMA wins
2011 BAMA wins
2010 barn loses
2009 BAMA wins
2008 UF wins
2007 LSU loses
2006 UF wins

Before the BAMA fan blah blahblah.....
I believe the SEC is so much stronger than the ACC back then that this would be the results.

Other non NC teams that I think could beat them
2011 LSU
2009 UF
2008 BAMA

The 2001 Miami team was very good, but not as good as people make them out to be.

Hell, in 2001, if UT and UF hadn't shite the bed in the final two weeks of the season, both could have given UM a hell of a game and neither one of them even won the SEC.

I think especially 2008 Florida and 2011 Alabama would give them all they want and more.

Now 1995 Nebraska.... different story. 1995 Nebraska beats anyone. And I mean anyone. I mean people make fun of that 1995 Florida team but that was a damn fine team.

1995 Nebraska is untouchable.

.. Bama would bat a 1000, of course they would.

I just counted up how many players from the 2004 AU team eventually signed NFL contracts.

30 of the 80 something scholarship players on the roster signed on with an NFL team at some point.

Possibly more, but I clicked on every player listed on the roster on the wiki page that had a hyperlink (35) and 30 of them signed an NFL contract. The 2001 Miami team had 38 players sign an NFL contract eventually.

2010 Auburn. It was just destiny for them that season.

None taken.. I make no claims that '10 AU would beat '01 Miami.. '04 AU would have the better chance - a more complete team and a dominant D.

I guess the two teams with the best chance to beat the 2001 Canes would be 2004 AU and 2011 Bama. I think those are the two best the SEC has produced. 2008 Gators are right there, post Ole Miss loss.

2003 LSU was loaded, but I still think the 2011 LSU team is the best tiger team I have seen, had they not got dominated in the natty this wouldnt even be conversation.

that being said, I think that 02 UGA, 03 LSU, 04 Auburn, 06 Florida, 08 Florida, 09 Bama, not sure about 10 Auburn but it would be fun to see that hurricane D try and stop Cam, 11 Bama, 11 LSU, 12 Bama would be close
