Arkansas vs. Missouri

Oh man, triggered arky fans are about to be in this thread so fast. Telling you how unworthy we are and how much they don't think about us or care while typing a novel describing their lack of caring.

Is there actually any history before y'all joined the SEC though? A&M and LSU played each other like 50x before A&M joined.

None but their odd sense of superiority over us and their lack of on field results and 4-10 record verse us leads to all the trolling and memeing on here. If it was an even series I doubt it would be as spicy.

It's hilarious seeing the irony of Arkansas fans complaining about being stuck playing a team the last game of the year that isn't a rivalry game to them and the other team cares way more about.

Funny thing is their whining has taken a forced rivalry and actually made it entertaining

LSU and A&M. Better programs more passionate fans. Beating Mizzou isn’t much of anything to hang your hat on.

Sorry you're upset by the fact that y'all cancelled a contract with a A&M after losing 5 or 6 in a row.

They have pretensions to greatness that we don't. That difference perpetually grinds their gears. Great fun.

We realize we're middle class. While a lot of programs are writing checks with their mouths that their teams can't cash.

I enjoy both "games" if they are entertaining...

But I certainly miss Missouri- Kansas since the rivalry was based on people who once killed each other.

About all Arkansas ever did to Missouri is steal Frank Broyles.

We have some home and home series with them coming up. I too miss the yearly game though. If only they were good enough to get out of their G5 conference with us.

What happened here?

quote:

“What happened, and I was responsible for it to be honest, was we went from seven league games to eight league games,” Dean continued. “And it put a strain on us when we had to go there (to College Station). We needed that extra home game for financial reasons.”

Dean went on to explain that LSU, which cut the contract off with two years remaining, had to pay $100,000 to do so. He also lamented the death of the A&M rivalry, but added that his was a common predicament in the early-nineties with conferences changing and taking shape.

Another example, Dean explained, was with Texas. According to the LSU basketball All-Century team member, he had the Longhorns on the hook for a home-and-home, but UT backed out, citing financial reasons, when it picked up an extra league game.

Arkansas/Missouri is a "rivalry"--they've only played 14 times, ever, and 9 of those came after Missouri joined the league. There's not really any history there.

It's surprising considering the proximity, but the same is true of Arkansas/Oklahoma. They've only played 14 times as well, and only 3 times since 1926.
