Not a ton of difference there but I always thought the BCS was a pretty decent rating system. Would much prefer it to 10 random people sitting in a room.

Hardly random. A few that seem to be favorites, unless they just lose, have their AD, or former coach sitting on the board.

A one loss Miami is not going in ahead of a one loss Ohio State, even if their SOS is tougher.

I like CFP. It doesn't include dumbass, biased AP.

I opened this thread assuming I was going to think BCS was better.

However, seeing little difference except Auburn (who has played a likely unprecedented three different teams that have been ranked #1 and gone 2-1 in those games) being ranked behind Wisconsin (who has played 1 team at the bottom of the Top25 all season) in the BCS poll changed my mind.

Not much difference but that the committee did correct the computers/polls on that seems to better reflect the quality of opponents and actual games played.

should add stipulation that conference champ has no more than 3 losses. 2 would be preferable but I could see the SEC of a few years ago beating each other up to a solid 3 loss champion. No team with 4 losses deserves to be in an 8 team playoff regardless of conference champ

The committee makes zero sense to me.

A fricking committee?

This is college football not the UN.

Ohio State has 2 losses. A 1 loss Miami would be ACC Champ, beating Clemson. They would be in.

I know that. I was speaking in general terms, from any given year. The media was pushing USC, Notre Dame, and Ohio State until they lost.

A former ND coach is on the committee. tOSU's AD is on the committee. When the committee was first formed it had USC's AD on it.

Given that all was equal, the school with the big name and committee ties is going in before the equal school with no political clout. It is transparent and any college football fan can see through it.

The computers could only be accurate after the season was over. They are usually pretty close after all is said and done.

BCS ranking system would not bother me if it was for the top four or top six, tbh.

As far as the committee.

I said this before. Even though I am an AU fan, I cannot watch teams like Wisconsin play or Ohio State play and think they are better than Alabama.

Yet, my feeling is they will find a way to get Ohio State in, for political reasons.

The created a precedent to get them in last year. I think they will create a precedent that runs in direct contrast to that this year to get them in again.

It is bullshite, but I think Alabama fans better prepare for the possibility that a 1 loss Alabama team, who lost to the number 2 team in the country, will get jumped by a team that got whupped and home and embarrassed by Iowa.

I am of the opinion you need to go to 8 no matter how you choose them. What happened to Penn State last season shouldn't happen...I also see the argument for why you'd want Ohio St. in last season since they beat 3 teams ranked in the final top 10. A similar argument could be made for Clemson if they happened to lose this weekend.

Make the conference championship mean something by allowing all 5 in...I really don't care if one of the teams has lost 5 games. That still leaves 3 spots for teams who most folks realize probably have done something to deserve a shot. It would also still generate plenty of talk about the 4th team left out and whether they got hosed.

I also believe it would help the sport if a non-Power 5 ranked at a certain spot like 12 or something was guaranteed a shot.
