I don't think MSU grads stay in state at any greater rate then OM grads. But State grads do tend to move to Houston or Huntsville. We don't exactly spread out and promote MSU around the country

This is not completely scientific, but its interesting and accurate in my experience.

New York Times mapped college football fans by the number of Facebook likes in a particular area.

LINK

Outside the Northwest/Memphis suburbs and the Coast and extreme Southwestern counties, MSU dominates the state. You can zoom in by zip code. What is interesting is the third place team is all over the place. Alabama/LSU/USM/Memphis

Memphis, Alabama and LSU actually own some zip codes in the state. Also, check out the total domination of the state of Alabama. That surprised me.

As evidenced by most replies in this thread, I think ole miss is pretty cool with state having the most fans in the great state of Mississippi

Yep, and Texas. I thought the Aggies had a stronger presence

Makes sense. Facebook is trashy. I bet those same people are sharing some hard hitting right winged memes too.

Weirdest part of that map?

Florida's domination of Maine.

Also interesting is the total dark orange/blue on the Kentucky-Tennessee state line. Most SEC states have at least some lighter colors or even crossovers on state lines.

I would have also thought Greenville, SC would be a solid Clemson town, but Carolina has a slight edge.

So the trashy Ole Miss fans are the ones around Oxford and up to Desoto County. Got it.

Texas dominates A&M in the Hispanic community, I would guess 80%+ of Hispanics prefer Texas over A&M.

Did you not see that those were the more “affluent” areas?! Now I really am confused.

Have you ever even been to Big Bad Breakfast? $22 for bacon and eggs, huh? The most expensive thing on their menu is $14.50

State fans all get two orders of bacon and eggs, so it adds up.

In the state of Mississippi there are more Mississippi State fans but overall it is about even as Ole Miss has a lot of fans in Memphis Nashville and even more throughout the south than Mississippi state does

State has more students from Tennessee than Ole Miss does.

It's crazy to think, but if you get outside of the state of MS, not all breakfasts cost less than $20

It's the best meal of the day tbh. I don't mind paying for breakfast. BBB isn't my favorite in oxford though

Ole Miss 30%
USM 15%
Bama 5%
LSU/Auburn 2.5% each
Everybody else 5%

I'd say really close but OM and State closer and USM lower.

Also, everybody else should be higher, given that it includes all other schools in the world (I took from State and OM to add to EE). I've seen stickers from other U.S. schools almost everywhere in MS.

State 35%
OM 30%
USM 10%
Bama 5%
LSU 3%
Auburn 1%
Everybody else 16%

Nah. Maybe 1%. And I love Delta State. I lived in Cleveland and attended classes at Delta State both in HS and when I returned to school 10 years later for pre-med classes.

I like delta st but most of their "fans" are also fans of one of the sec schools. Typically msu if I had to guess.

A lot of State fans living in Birmingham too. I live here and I see State license plates and stickers everywhere. Less so for Ole Miss though they are here.
