Do a lot of folks in Mississippi who have no ties to either school just bandwagon on whichever is better? I can see people hopping on that Rebel train in 2015 then right off.

I’ve been in MS my entire life, and I’ve never seen anyone flip flop unless they had decided to go to college at the rival school. Still, some people stay loyal to their old team despite graduating from the rival school, so in total, there isn’t a lot of people that change.

This is accurate, though the first two listed will never admit it.

This is 100% accurate. Ole Miss even offers a Bachelor of Science in Being a Rich Kid with an emphasis on Trust Fund Management, or Lack Thereof.

You hit the nail on the head.

I get random texts about Ole Miss from State fans I know when something bad (in their eyes) happens. It never crosses my mind when I see bad things about State to send them a text. I just don't give a frick. The only time I talk shite to any State fans is generally on here because some of them make it so fun.

Both of my parents have degrees from Ole Miss. My dad eventually got his PhD in education and is still working at 81 years old. My mom still works part time as well. I graduated from Ole Miss as well with a liberal arts degree in squeaking by and having a good time. I’ve worked my way up the ladder in construction management. I love what I do.

No trust funds here.

ETA: I’m still better than you (state fans) though.

None here, either. Quite the opposite.

But hey-what fun is it to let folks know that when it upsets them to think we're living off of daddy's money, jet-setting around, driving Benz's, banging all the hot trim, and generally living the life they only wished they lived.

Oh sure. Reality is that we’re making our own money, driving trucks, hunting and fishing, spending time with family, banging whoever we maxed out our potential with, and generally living the same damn life.

And I think most reasonable people know this. However, it seems it may not register with a select few.

In my experience I would agree with this. Ole Miss fans are mostly pretentious assholes...

That goes both ways. As an outsider that’s lived in the pine belt the last 5 years, the relationship is fascinating. The majority of the OM fans I know in this part of the state...I don’t really know the term...falsely pretentious? Making the same money, living on the same street, and looking down their nose at the peasant MSU fans like they’re better by association with the school that’s seen as uppity. When it boils down to it, this is Mississippi. Nobody here has a a valid reason to act snobby in the grand scheme of things, but OM fans do it anyway. I’ve seen some haggard white trash gutter sluts strutting around in an OM shirt like they’re Princess Diana; Crystal wants Destiny to know that she’s better than her because she cheers for ole miss. It’s the damndest thing to me as an Alabamian. We just hate Auburn, but most of us could name our 5 closest friends and 1 or 2 of them would root for the other school.

Obviously there are exceptions to every rule, and I know guys that graduated from OM that don’t fit the description above, but it’s largely what I’ve noticed in my time here.

This will never change. And boy do I love a good ole, “YOU JUST THINK YER BETTER N US DONTCHA?”

Warms my heart really. And yes, I do think that. But not because of money or false pretentiousness. We’re just generally better people when it comes to the rivalry. Whenever you see someone mad online posting truly awful things, and I mean truly awful things, the badge beside the username is usually maroon. True maroon as they say I guess.

This is pure bullshite.

Plus, the high schools in the county, especially the ones in the more affluent area, are sending kids to State over ole miss at a 2 or 3 to 1 clip.

I’d love to hear your definition of “affluent” as it pertains to Desoto County

Ole Miss has larger attendance for football and baseball so they have more real fans. In the state of Mississippi there are more Mississippi State fans but overall it is about even as Ole Miss has a lot of fans in Memphis Nashville and even more throughout the south than Mississippi state does

Yes investments like second mortgages, leased cars they can’t afford to buy, crushing credit card debt, prostitutes in Tampa, and timeshares. All to keep up the image

The latest with the Tony Fin announcement, State's reaction is out of embarrassment with the look at that thing. Looks like Jabber jaws funny cousin. Hilarious shite!
