That whole blue blood talk is complete crap! We have played in 3 NCGs since 2000 and more than likely about to play in another. So what exactly makes a blue blood?

They have so called "blue blood" programs that haven't even sniffed the NCG in 20 years!

I'll admit I've not spent a lot of time hammering down the fine details on this. A few different sports news sites have tried to rank teams all-time based on criteria like conference and national titles, Heisman winners, reputation for putting players into the pros, all-time record, things like that. LSU, for its whole history, consistently sits just outside the top 10 in these rankings, and if you just took LSU from 2000 onward it'd easily be top-10.

Hence why I'm thinking another decade of success gets us there. At that point we'll have had 30 years of undisputed top-tier performance. People my age will have been around for half a lifetime and, as long as we were old enough to understand football and follow it, LSU will have been in the conversation with the top programs. Hard not to call a program like that a blueblood at that point IMO.

TBH, Alabama is the only blue blood in the SEC.

For football. Kentucky is for basketball.

But that doesn't make LSU a blue blood.

Your right, comparing us to Georgia is setting a low bar for being a blue blood.

Who gives a shite about being a blue blood? It’s all about the now. Michigan and Nebraska are considered blue bloods and have been shite for years.

I wonder how many really understand the meaning of "blue blood"?

It doesn't mean you have won a lot a games in the last 10 years or even 20 years! It means you have longevity and have been at the top of your game for decades.

I think UGA is more of a blue blood than LSU because of their legacy. Harvard is a blue blood in football not because their students are blue bloods, but because they helped start the game as we know it!

Idk

But fun fact of the day
With LSU's SEC Championship victory over Georgia Saturday, they surpassed UGA in all-time win percentage.

Blue blood to me isnt about measuring actual success per se, its about perception more than anything (which likely started with success)

Blue Bloods in football

Bama
Ohio State
ND
Oklahoma
USC

Thats it as I see it. I think Nebraska would have been there but they have managed to go the way of Army and Navy

Alabama and it’s not even close. LSU getting there. Georgia spends to much time losing to other outside conferences through the years and and no NC since 1980. Funny thing is Hershel Walker is my all time favorite player from college, but being challenged closely at present by Jeaux Burreaux!
