Where do you rank Auburn as a football program within the SEC?

The title says it.
If you consider everything: history, national titles, Heismans, bowl wins, where do they rank?
Who are they above?
Who are they below?
Where would you personally rank Auburn historically as a football program in the SEC?

1. Alabama
2. Tennessee
3-6 Any combo of Florida, LSU, Georgia and Auburn. IMO you're splitting hairs trying to rank 3-6

LSU has more national champs, sec champs, win pct, and head to head.
Auburn is number 5 or 6 with UF.

Pretty much. But I don't know how much longer your can really separate UT from the others (UF, LSU, UGA, AU). They are coming up on 20 years since their last SEC title. At some point you have to question whether some of the other teams haven't caught or surpassed them. They still have the second most SEC titles at 13 but they need to win one soon (or at least win the East - coming up on 10 years since they have even done that) or I think you just have to start throwing them in with the others.

I don't really care about Auburn being tied or above LSU, although LSU is closer to AU/UF/UGA than they are to Bama, and hence, it makes sense for them to be in our little group.
A few years ago I think it would be fair to say there was a sense Auburn was on a better trajectory than LSU, but now I think that is up in the air again, so LSU having the better numbers justifies their position at the top of the second place group.

#1 is clearly Alabama
#2 is still Tennessee, however the gap is shrinking rapidly. 15 years ago, they were closer to #1 Alabama than they were to whoever was #3 in the SEC. That is no longer the case. If the next 15 years play out similar to the previous 15 years, UT could legit be looking at dropping all the way to #6 in the league.
#3 is now LSU by a slim margin. Through the Saban/Miles years, they pulled away from the pack of Auburn/Georgia/Florida. The gap between them and those other 3 is very slim, but they are a clear #3.
#4 is a toss-up between Georgia, Auburn, and Florida. You could go any direction. They are all so close, its pretty much impossible to definitively rank one ahead of the other. Any of these 4 are one solid season that produces a National Championship away from moving neck-and-neck with LSU and leaving the other ones behind.
#7 is a toss-up between Arkansas and Texas A&M. Again, very close.
#9 is Ole Miss without a doubt.
#10 is Missouri without a doubt.

While I stand by the fact that Georgia, Auburn, and Florida can be ranked in any order at #4, #5, or #6 in the SEC.... the gap between those 6 and the next 3 (Arky, TAMU, OM) is very wide.
I also think its nearly impossible to say that Florida is definitively ahead of Auburn.
National Titles
Florida- 3 (1996, 2006, 2008)
Auburn- 2 (1957, 2010)
SEC Titles
Auburn- 8
Florida- 8
All-Time AP Poll Points Ranking
Auburn- #13 (38 Top 25 finishes)
Florida= #17 (31 Top 25 finishes)
Head-to-Head
Auburn leads series 42-38-2
All-Time Wins
Auburn- 746 (#13 nationally)
Florida- 710 (#22 nationally)
Like I said, it could go either way. Auburn basically has a slight lead in just about every category except that Florida has one extra National Title... which is a pretty big deal. Because of the extra title, I can totally see someone ranking Florida ahead. But I think any ranking of Florida, Georgia, and Auburn needs to come with an asterisk stating how close all 3 are to each other.
If I had to rank the three, I'd go Georgia, Auburn, Florida... but I am obviously biased. To me, the fact that every single accomplishment in Florida's football history occurred between 1991 and 2008 is an issue for their overall resume. It's hard to quantify because the achievements are there. However, I think programs that have maintained strong success decade after decade are a bit more impressive, IMO.
