Tell me about the top two or three moments in your program’s history…

2000-2019 were lsu golden years.
2003 and 2019 were my favorite moments.
2003 was that first championship in my lifetime and was just special.
2019 is next because beginning to end was just awesome. Burrow heisman (first in a long time for lsu)

LSU fans being honest, nice to see.
Football was not a thing until 2000 for them.
Respect for honesty

It was really 2000-2011. 2019 was an outlier. Also from 2000-2011, basketball made it to the final four and baseball won 2 titles.

Most of us were not around in the 50s. I’m old enough to remember the good teams in the mid-80s.

I would be interested to know which moment Mizzou fans would choose.
Historically, we have two unclaimed national championships. The first is from 1960 and I really do think we should claim that one as the team had a record of 10-1, but the one loss was later reversed as the big eight found that Kansas had used an ineligible player. I think it’s a mistake that the university doesn’t accept that championship.
More recently, some of the Pinkel years were pretty great. 2007 is another unclaimed championship. I don’t think we should claim that one. We lost to OU twice.
Many wouldn’t remember it, but Mizzou had a long losing streak against Nebraska. I remember when we finally broke that in the late 90s, and reeled off some wins.
The last few years have been pretty good, but not great. The consistency is new to our program though. Just need to break through against the upper tier of this league.
It truly is a joy to be in the SEC. I know we yuck it up a lot, but I remember the bad old days. Mizzou went through a 20 year period similar to what Arkansas is currently experiencing.

1920s, 1930s, 1960s, 1970s, 1990s, 2008-2023.
2025 ain’t all that bad so far.
Basically 100 years of good ol’ days.

For Auburn, we’ve really had 4 great eras… some lasted longer than others.
The VERY early days: 1900-1919
Auburn, along with Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech, were the Top 3 early Southern powers in the first two decades after the turn of the century. Auburn won 8 conference titles in these 20 seasons.
The era culminated in 1913-1914 when Auburn went 16-0-1 over the course of two seasons… out scoring opponents 417-13.
The other highlight came in 1917 when Auburn attracted northern power Ohio State to travel down to Montgomery. Auburn tied the Buckeyes (8-0-1) giving them the only blemish to their stellar season. It was one of the earliest times a Southern program attracted a quality Northern team to come to the South and manage not to lose.
The Early Shug Jordan Era: 1954-1963
Shug turned Auburn’s program around after the disastrous 1940s. For the decade spanning 1954-1963, Auburn was 5th nationally in Winning%… 2nd best in the SEC behind only Ole Miss.
The highlight was the 1957 National Title… the first national title trophy to ever be brought home to the state of Alabama and only the second in the SEC’s history (Tennessee 1951 was the first).
Auburn had Top 5 finishes in 1957, 1958, and 1963.
The Pat Dye Era: 1982-1989
Dye won 4 SEC titles in a span of 8 seasons. Auburn was third nationally in Winning% during this time frame, trailing only Nebraska and Miami. Bo Jackson won the 1985 Heisman Trophy. From 1982 until 1990, Auburn played 97 consecutive games ranked in the AP Poll… a streak covering 129 poll releases.
The Chizik/Malzahn Blip of Major Ups and Downs: 2010-2013
Insane roller-coaster ride that included a 3-9 season… but in this four year period Auburn won a national title, played for a second, and won two SEC Championships. Cam Newton also won the Heisman Trophy. Hard not to include it considering all the hardware.

I remember when Mizzou played Auburn in the SEC championship. We had a really good team, but that game exposed the difference between really good and elite. It was tight until the 4th quarter.
