only 2 of those were scheduled. Had you not gotten preferential treatment you probably wouldn't have reached at least one of those seccg's.

Are you talking about scheduling or penalties or something? Need clarification on pref. treatment. Just because both years we played them in the SECCG we went 12-0 in both reg. seasons.

I don't think we'll have a problem going back to beating Alabama with Saban still there, so yes, we'll beat them when he leaves too.

Considering LSU beats bama and saban now, I can see it only getting better for LSU once saban is gone.

According to blogosphere Saban is the greatest field general since Hannibal (well, this might actually be true ) and Miles is a blithering idiot...so when they both retire 5 years or so from now, logically LSU should win 10 in a row by an average of 30 points.

Pretty sure Alabama has been beating everyone in the SEC more than everyone was beating them, long before Saban got there.

LSU had beaten Alabama 5 times in a row before Saban was hired.

Alabama/LSU series record before Saban arrived at Bama

4-3

Alabama/LSU series record with Saban at Alabama

As best I can tell LSU loses to Alabama with Saban and without, so....

Yeah, I had forgotten in Baton Rouge football was founded circa 2000.

If you wanna talk streaks I'm pretty sure Alabama has beaten LSU 2 in a row.

And that's not history, that's CURRENT btw.

So to review

Past - Alabama
Present - Alabama
Future - Look at the recruiting rankings and preseason polls and tell me

Bama - LSU will continue to be the primary force of the SEC West for years to come.

Auburn needs a major overhaul. I'll have to wait and see if Gus is really the man for that.

UGA - we don't play them much. We beat the stuffing out of them in '08, and had the game of the decade in '12. UGA will always be good.

UF - we split the two title games we played against them, and won both regular season games since '08. If last year is any indicator, they're back on track to be a contender.

Seriously, it's a silly question. UGA we haven't played enough to weigh in on, UF is trending up and Alabama/LSU is ratings gold. Since Saban's hire in 2007, the regular season series is split 3-3, and the average margin of victory is 5.3 points, with 2 OT games and only 1 of those 6 determined by more than one score.

The subject of this thread is about the future, not the golden past.

The SEC only became the premiere college football conference in the past seven years, only after LSU became a perennial SEC power.

If the SEC was only Florida and Bama, the SEC wouldn't have won 7 BCS championships in a row and wouldn't have the prestige it presently enjoys.

Considering the in-state talent base TAM has at its disposal, they will become one of the Big-3 in the SEC West.

They will lack depth for the next couple of years, but they already played Bama and LSU to a standstill last year.

LSU has beaten Bama 2 out of the last 6 games they have played. That puts them exactly on par with Auburn.

This is an even series now, unless Bama or LSU hire a bad coach coach it will continue to be that way.

Perhaps. I'll wait and see. They had that same talent base in the Big 12, but has not claimed a ring since 1998. I'm curious to see if they've truly turned the corner or just lucked out with a once-in-a-while talent like Manziel. Like I've said before, they blew two leads and nearly blew the one against Alabama. I'm not sold just yet that they're ready to be a perennial power. I fully admit I could be wrong, but one good season isn't going to make me suddenly think they're a complete team.

Until last year, 1998 was their last 10+ win season. In that stretch (99-2011), the following SEC teams had at least 1 10+ win season:
Alabama (6)
Arkansas (3)
Auburn (3)
Florida (5)
Georgia (7)
LSU (7)
Mississippi (1)
Mississippi State (1)
South Carolina (1)
Tennessee (4)

That's every SEC team except Kentucky and Vandy.
Also:
Missouri (3)

My point is, Texas A&M has always had that potential, yet has a hard time realizing it. Things might change, and last year is certainly a trend in the right direction, but 1 great year thanks to an amazing QB doesn't turn a team into a year-in, year-out contender.

Don't know much about Texas football except that there is a ton of talent to go around but I wonder how much of an impact on aTm will there be when Texas gets its act together. SUMLIN is a great coach imo without much to go on for his short tenure but I have to wonder how long will he remain at aTm if the NFL would call if he is even a candidate to get there one day.

That's as relevant to current situation as Alabama winning 20 consecutive games in Tiger Stadium from 1958-1998.

The SEC has had similar national success in the past. Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and Ole Miss all won national titles from 1957-1964. A similar time period to the current situation. Meanwhile, the Big Ten has two collective national titles since 1970.
